    Lineas Aereas Suramericanas Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Bogota

    A Lineas Aereas Suramericanas plane had to return and make an emergency landing in Bogota, Colombia, on March 28th.

    The Boeing 727-200 plane took off for Leticia, Colombia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Delta Airlines Airbus A330-300 en route from Paris Charles de Gaulle France to Atlanta,GA
    Where: Stephenville
    When: Nov 30
    Who: 1 passenger
    Why: Due to a passenger apparently having a stroke, the flight diverted to Stephenville Canada where a passenger was rushed to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital. ATC suggested Saint Johns, but the weather was not permitting. The medical emergency delayed the arrival in Georgia by four hours. The ill passenger arrived at the hospital in critical condition

    Radar Failure in Iberia Airbus

    What: Iberia Airbus A340-300 en route from Sao Paulo Brazil to Madrid
    Where: Sao Paulo
    When: Nov 12th 2010
    Why: While en route, the flight developed problems with their radar and returned to Sao Paulo where they made a safe landing.

    Medevac Disaster

    What: Medical evacuation helicopter en route from Ponte Lettia heliport in Upper Corsica
    Where: on the French Mediterranean island of Corsica in the mountainous area near the city of Bastia. The helicopter “brutally” flew into a mountain in poor weather.
    When: Sun Apr 26, 2009
    Who: Five people: two pilots, a medic and two patients
    Why: In spite of bad weather (fog, wind and rain), there was no distress signal. The medical team hadn’t realized how close to delivery the mother was; the helicopter was en route to the hospital as the Frenchwoman was giving birth. Mother and newborn perished in the crash along with everyone aboard. A rescue team of 150 found the wreckage.

    Cathay Pacific Lands in Amsterdam with one engine down

    What: Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400 en route from Hong Kong to Amsterdam
    Where: Amsterdam
    When: Jun 27th 2010, 6:35 am
    Who: 377 passengers and 20 crew
    Why: On landing in Amsterdam, one of the plane’s four engines developed a problem and was shut down. The flight made a safe landing in Amsterdam on three engines. A replacement engine was flown in to Amsterdam to repair the plane.

    Several Crew Members Fell Ill; Aer Lingus Flight Lands in Emergency in Dublin

    Aer LingusA Boston-bound flight of Aer Lingus had to return and make an emergency landing at Dublin airport, after several crew members fell sick.

    Flight EI-139 carrying 280 passengers took off for Boston at about 4.23 p.m. on June 15. According to an airline spokesperson, the decision for emergency landing was made after a number of crew members reported feeling ill.

    Medical crews welcomed the Airbus A330 as it touched the ground shortly before 9 p.m. None of the crew needed hospital treatment.

    Aer Lingus said the incident is being investigated.
