    New Mexico Helicopter Crash


    A Robinson R44 II with three aboard crashed near Truth or Consequences, New Mexico just before noon in Sierra County near State Road 187 between Las Palomas and Caballo.

    There was no fire, but the three people aboard died in the crash. The victims were 78-year-old Duane Zietlow, of Elephant Butte; 61-year-old William Brownfield, of Caballo; and 34-year-old pilot Ebenezer Priebe, of Tucson, Arizona.

    The helicopter may have struck a power line.

    Germania Flug Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kosovo

    Germania Flug flight GM-3225 had to return and make an emergency landing in Pristina, Kosovo, on June 14th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Zurich, Switzerland, but had to turn back after a phone battery started emitting smoke.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    3 Killed, 1 Injured in Alaska Plane Crash

    A Cessna 206 plane crashed on Admiralty Island, Alaska, on April 8th.

    The commuter airplane, owned by Sunrise Aviation based in Wrangell, Alaska, was carrying four people when it went down near Angoon village.

    Three people were killed in the crash while the fourth one survived. She was airlifted to a hospital in Juneau.

    The crash is under investigation.

    UN Plane Crashes in Stormy Congo

    What: United Nations/Georgian Airways Canadair CL-600-2B19 Regional Jet CRJ-100ER en route from Kinshasa-N’Djili Airport (FIH) to Kisangani (FKI) and Entebbe (EBB), Uganda and back.
    Where: Kinshasa-N’Djili Airport (FIH) Congo
    When: 04 APR 2011 2 pm local time
    Who: 29 passengers 3 crew
    Why: On the final leg of the flight, the plane crashed in rainy weather. The pilot attempted a landing in heavy rain, and broke in two. There were some who initially survived who were taken to Biamba Marie Mutombo hospital in the town of Masina, which is fifteen minutes from the Kinshasa airport. Twenty UN workers were aboard. The plane ignited on contact.

    One person survived the crash according to a UN Farhan Haq spokesman.

    * A second source said the plane was a Fokker 834.

    Piper Crashes near Holitna River

    Who: 2 aboard, 2 fatalities
    Why: A red and white Piper Super Cub owned by Richard Wilmarth, crashed while apparently attempting to land on a private airstrip near the Holitna River. Wilmarth and his passenger Kenneth Mellick died in the crash.

    Small Plane Crashes at Millard Airport in Omaha; 1 Killed, 1 Injured

    A small plane crashed at Millard Airport in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 27th.

    The plane was carrying a man and a woman when it went down at the end of the runway.

    The male occupant of the plane was killed in the crash. The woman was injured and was taken to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in critical condition.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
