    Pilot’s body found

    What: two-seater Piper 38 en route from from Teesside to Durham Tees Valley Airport, near Darlington
    Where: in sea off Robin Hood’s Bay near Whitby, North Sea, UK
    When: Crash witnessed at 4.20 p.m. on Friday
    Who: Pilot, a middle-aged man from the Ripon area, was the only fatality. He was a member of a Tees Valley flight school.
    Why: Pilot sent out a Mayday distress call. Witnesses reported seeing the plane crash into the sea. A full scale search operation was in effect until the pilot’s body was found by divers at 11.45 am near rocks near the crash site and taken to Scarborough Hospital. The aircraft salvage operation is co-ordinated by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, the coastguard and the RNLI. The plane was dismantled to facilitate transportation.

    Small Plane Crashed at Trinca Airport, NJ; Pilot Dead

    A small plane crashed at Trinca Airport in Green Township, New Jersey, on August 6th.

    Authorities said the single-engine plane went down at the end of the runway.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Small Plane Crashes near Adirondack Regional Airport; 4 Killed

    brazilcrashA Piper PA-46 aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Adirondack Regional Airport in Saranac Lake, New York, on August 7th.

    Authorities said the single-engine plane had arrived from Rochester worldwide Airport and was flying back there when it went down.

    Four people were killed in the crash. They were identified as Raymond Shortino, 67, his wife Sharon Shortino, 66, and their friends Harvey Stoler, 68, and Sharon Stoler, 68.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    Plane Crash-Lands Near Punta Gorda Airport

    A SNJ5 Navy trainer plane crash-landed in a cow pasture near Punta Gorda Airport, Florida, on April 1st.

    Authorities said the plane was attempting to land at the airport when it lost power and made a belly landing.

    The pilot remained uninjured while the co-pilot received minor scratches.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Overland Airways Jet Veers Off the Runway at Ilorin Airport, Nigeria

    Overland airwaysOverland Airways flight 1186 swerved off the runway at Ilorin Airport in Kwara State of Nigeria on November 29.

    The ATR 72 aircraft, which departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja, veered off the runway after it landed at Ilorin Airport at about 4:45 p.m.

    Authorities confirmed that all 59 passengers and 4 crew members remained unhurt.

    The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.

    Mil Crash in Borneo

    An Indonesian Army Mil Mi-17B-5 en route to a construction site so remote it can only be reached by helicopter was flying from Tarakan to Malinau with a crew of construction workers and a 1,100 pound construction cargo when the helicopter developed engine trouble.

    Eight crew and eleven civilian construction workers went down in a jungle in Borneo, thirteen of whom died on impact.

    Four passengers and two crew survived. Eight of the fatalities were civilian construction workers, and five were military crew.

    The helicopter burned out on the ground near Bulan. The survivors suffered burns.
