    Aeromexico Plane Collides with Service Truck at LAX; 8 Injured

    An Aeromexico plane collided with a service truck after landing in Los Angeles, California, on May 20th.

    The incident happened when flight AM-642 from Mexico City, Mexico, was taxiing toward the terminal at Los Angeles airport.

    The truck overturned due to impact. There were eight people aboard, including six men and two women; all of them were injured.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane, carrying 149 people, sustained minor damage.

    What: Air Ops LLC Beechcraft Bonanza registered to TFB Aviation LLC of Mingo, Iowa. The air taxi was flying en route from from Midway Airport in Chicago when the pilot experienced problems
    Where: near the Tom Sawyer State Park and the Indian Springs Golf Club, near Louisville KY
    When: Thursday Morning Dec 18
    Who: Pilot Evan Freeman, a 25-year-old pilot from Louisville was killed in the crash
    Why: The crash is under investigation

    5 Die in Mountainous Crash in Andorra, 1 Burned Crewman Struggles For Survival

    What: Inaer/Helland Helicopter en route to Juclar
    Where: Estany de Juclá – Canillo, Andorra
    When: June 15, 2011
    Who: 6 aboard, 5 fatalities, 1 serious injury
    Why: At 10:30 am, a flight transporting equipment and supplies to Juclar crashed in a mountainous area near the Andorran town of Canillo. Four bodies were immediately being recovered; one was missing, having been ejected from the chopper. One individual survived with serious burns on 70% of his body, and was evacuated to Barcelona by chopper to the Hospital Vall d’Hebrón de Barcelona..

    The helicopter is reported to be of French origin and registered in Spain. Forensic and technical experts are on scene; and the investigation will include Spanish officials, and representatives of the French helicopter buildern.

    A field hospital has been set up to care for the victims’ families whose names were not released but were all reported to be “members of the crew.”

    Inaer, the company which owns the helicopter, stated the accident is due to bad weather and low visibility due to foggy conditions.

    Although the original report lists one as missing, the body of the missing person was found.

    Naples Fla: Grumman Tiger Crash


    What: four-seat Grumman Tiger registered to Skyway IV LLC. en route from Wing South Airport in East Naples in Florida
    Where: Wing South Airport
    When: 6 p.m. Friday
    Who: two people escaped with minor injuries, one had serious injuries and one was in critical condition. Both couples jave property in condos adjacent to the air strip. Pilot John Oros, Wendy Oros, Roy Myers, Lora Richichi. Oros has been treated and released; Myers is at Downtown Naples Hospital.
    Why: plane crashed on takeoff probably due to engine failure.

    NordStar Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cracked Windshield

    NordStar flight Y7-515 made an emergency landing at Krasnoyarsk International Airport, Russia, on November 4th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Novosibirsk, Russia, to Sanya, China, was diverted due to a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy-three people aboard remained unharmed.

    New Zealand Pilots Lost in South Island Chopper Crash

    What: Wanaka Helicopters Robinson R22 on a training flight from Wanaka to Haast and back
    Where: Arawhata Saddle, Wanaka South Island, New Zealand
    When: April 27 2011
    Who: Pilot instructor and student
    Why: The training flight did not return to Wanaka as scheduled at 1:00; it’s last known position was near Bonar Glacier.

    The beacon, one of two types aboard, was detected and the helicopter found at 9:00 am Thursday *local time.

    Both pilot and student were fatalities, and the wreckage was found near the Olivine Wilderness Area in a stream at the head of the Arawhata River by search teams investigating an area near Mt Aspiring. The search was focused on Bow Peak in the “Waipara Saddle.”
