    Yakutia Airlines Plane Diverts to Russia due to Smoke

    Yakutia Airlines flight R3-772 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Rostov-on-Don Airport, Russia, on July 22nd.

    The Boeing 737-800 flying from Simferopol, Ukraine, to Moscow, Russia, had to divert due to smoke on board.

    The plane landed safely.

    Alliance Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke On Board

    alliance-airlinesAlliance Airlines flight QQ-3215 had to divert for an emergency landing in Whyalla, South Australia, Australia, on November 15th.

    The plane flying from Olympic Dam to Adelaide, Australia, was diverted after smoke was observed onboard.

    The plane landed safely. All 42 people aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Bird-Struck Helicopter Makes Emergency landing Along Hudson River

    HelicopterA bird-struck helicopter had to land in emergency at the West 30th Street heliport on the Hudson River, New York City, on the afternoon of October 3.

    According to the FAA, the Bell B407 helicopter was hit by a bird while it was some 6 miles west-southwest of LaGuardia Airport.

    The helicopter belongs to an aerial tour company. According to the General manager Kathleen Wiig, the incident happened when the helicopter was flying at around 1,500 feet and that the protocol requires immediate landing in such situations.

    There were 7 people on-board at the time of incident, none of them required any medical attention.

    The FAA is investigating.

    Compass Airlines Plane makes Emergency Landing in Utah after Tyre Damage

    compassCompass Airlines flight DL-5689 made a safe emergency landing at Denver International Airport, Denver, Colorado, on May 20th.

    The Embraer ERJ-175, heading from Utah, to Colorado, was mid-air when the crew reported a blown tyre and requested emergency services on standby.

    The plane received minor damage.

    All 79 people onboard remained unharmed.

    Delta/Skywest Makes Safe Landing on one set of Landing Gear

    What: Delta Air Lines/ SkyWest en route from Cincinnati to Milwaukee
    Where: Mitchell International Airport, Milwaukee Wisconsin
    When: June 6, 2011
    Who: 41 passengers, 3 crew
    Why: On approach to the airport, the landing gear developed problems.

    The plane made a safe landing at 10 pm Monday night on one set of landing gear. Passengers were bussed to the terminal. Once passenger was hospitalized.

    According to news crews covering the incident, the plane looked tilted on the runway. The airport was closed for two hours after the landing.
