    Emirates Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Flat Tire Indication

    EmiratesEmirates Airlines flight EK-9 made an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport, England, on September 8th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane was flying from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when the crew declared emergency due to indication of a flat nose wheel tire.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Small Plane Crash in Utah Kills Four

    A small plane crashed in San Juan County, Utah, on February 22nd.

    The incident happened when the plane was transporting four people from Grand Junction, Colorado, to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

    All four occupants of the plane were killed in the crash.

    The cause of accident is being investigated.

    2 Die in Colorado Plane Crash

    What: Beech 60 Duke en route from Brownwood Regional Airport, Texas to Colorado
    Where: 3 1/2 miles North of Edwards, Colorado
    When: Dec 15, 2010, 4:30
    Who: 2 aboard, pilot Barton Harris and Jerry Hoggatt
    Why: While en route, the pilot lost radar contact with the Eagle County and Denver airports while making a final approach to the Eagle County Regional Airport in Eagle. Pilot, Barton Harris, 67, of Brownwood, Texas, and Jerry Hoggatt, 73, of Pelham, Alabama, were flying to ski in Colorado.

    The wreckage was found by a National Guard OS58 helicopter crew 3.5 miles north of Edwards in steep terrain at an elevation of approximately 10,800 feet.

    The plane is registered to Barton Harris of Brownwood, Texas.

    Eagle County Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting, Eagle County Ambulance District, Eagle County Coroner’s Office, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Garfield Search and Rescue, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, the Salvation Army, Summit County Search and Rescue, Vail Mountain Rescue, Vail Police Department and Western Eagle County Search and Rescue assisted in the recovery.

    Harris had spent 12 years as a Navy aviator. Harris was co-founder of W.T. Harris Company, a service firm providing warehousing, transportation, assembly work and wooden pallets, crates and other products.

    Air France Plane Over-runs Runway in France

    Air France flight AF-7498 over-ran the runway at Biarritz Pays Basque Airport, Biarritz, France, on September 23rd.

    The Airbus A320-200 flying from Paris Orly, France, went off the runway and had to be disabled.

    The plane sustained minor damage.

    No one was injured, however, the passengers had to remain inside the plane for at least an hour.

    Vintage Airplane Crashed in Minnesota

    A vintage plane veered off the runway into a deep drainage ditch during landing at the Rush City Airport in east-central Minnesota.

    The incident happened during the Rush City Fly-in on the morning of June 8.

    The pilot from Amery, Wisconsin, was uninjured.

    The 1936 Tailor J2 aircraft sustained damage at the front end, including a broken propeller and broken landing gear.

    The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of crash.

    21 Year Old Cropduster Crashes and Burns in Tasmania


    What: 1967 cropdusting Cessna
    Where: Cressy in north Tasmania
    When: 8 a m
    Who: 12 year old pilot working for a local aviation company
    Why: The engine stalled, lost altitude and hit the ground nose first, exploding and igniting fuel from the ruptured tank.
    The propeller was torn off by the impact.The pilot was wearing a firesuit but his face and hands were on fire.The pilot was taken to Launceston General Hospital. A water tanker driver stopped and helped put out the fire.
