Piper Crash in Argentina

Mr. Julio Contreras – President of Allen Air Club was flying a Piper PA-11 Cub Special on May 10, 2013 and on landing at the Aeropuerto Arturo Humbert in Argentina, the plane flipped–a wheels up landing.

Volunteer firemen, police, airport staff and members of the aeroclub responded to the scene.

The cause of the accident is being attributed to excessive braking. Local news in Argentina is calling it just a scare. The pilot suffered a bump on the forehead, but is otherwise okay. He told reporters “IT WAS A BAD LANDING, SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE WHO FLIES. I ADMIT THAT WAS MY MISTAKE AND DO NOT REALLY KNOW IF SMUG, WANTING TO PLAY SHORT, I TOUCHED THE BRAKES A LITTLE MORE. THIS IS AN AIRCRAFT THAT HAS A TRAIN CONVENTIONAL WHEELS THAT ARE MORE LIBERATED LATER, STOPPED AND TURNED VERY SLOW. BUT I’M FINE, BUT WITH A BIG RAGE AND PAIN OF THE SOUL BECAUSE BREAKING A PLANE IS LIKE THAT YOU DAMAGE A CHILD … AND ANGER COMPARED TO SOMEONE WHO KICKS A PENALTY AND MISSES. IT WAS A VERY SIMPLE BEAT, CAME TO REFUEL AND BRAKED MORE, IS AN AIRCRAFT THAT HAS THE BRAKES VERY JEALOUS, MAYBE A LITTLE SMUG I WANT TO LAND SHORT, I WAS WRONG.     The two aboard were killed on impact. They had been intending to land at Urbe airport in Rome but impacted at 167 Via Fioranello. Alfredo Segariol and Antonio Salvoldi, 39, Brescia were in the air performing a photographic surveys for the Rossi company. After impact, the Cessna caught fire; and the fire spread to gut thirty cars at the depot. The plume of smoke was visible across the city.

    It is not yet known if the plane had mechanical trouble or ran out of fuel.

    S7 Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Brakes Problem

    S7 Airlines flight S7-1148 made an emergency landing in Moscow, Russia, on February 6th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Krasnodar, Russia, was on final approach to Moscow when the crew reported a brakes problem and went around.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    SkyWest Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Durango

    SkyWestSkyWest Airlines flight OO-5849 had to make an emergency landing in Durango, Colorado, on July 25th.

    The plane flying from Denver, Colorado, was preparing to land in Durango when the crew reported a problem with nose landing gear.

    The crew used an alternate gear extension system and landed safely. All 56 people aboard remained uninjured.

    Who: 2 aboard, 28-year-old pilot Andrew Wilson and a female nurse on board, both fatalities
    Why: After takeoff, the flight developed engine failure. Unable to gain altitude, the pilot reported he would be returning to Bankstown, but plane crashed on Canley Vale Road near Sydney just outside of the ATC three mile boundary. The pilot had been engaged in several minutes of conversation with ATC.

    After the crash, the pilot and nurse were fatally injured. A car transporting one adult and three children was hit with crash debris; and the home belonging to Kevin Huynh caught on fire. 5 on the ground were hospitalized.

    Bird-Hit Avianca Brazil Airlines Flight Safely Lands in Rio de Janeiro

    AviancaAvianca Brazil Airlines flight O6-6235 made a safe landing after a bird strike in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 10th.

    The Airbus A318-100 plane was flying from Brasilia, Brazil, when a vulture hit it, damaging the radome.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Small Plane Crash Lands in California

    A small plane had to make a crash landing at Mineta San Jose International Airport, San Jose, Santa Clara County, California, on March 24.

    The Plaggio P180 was seen circling over San Jose and Willow Glen, and it was reported that there was a mechanical issue, due to which the crew opted for a crash landing.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    It turned out that there was a problem with the rear landing gear.

    All people aboard remained unharmed.
