TAM Linhas Aereas flight JJ-3517 had to return and make an emergency landing at Deputado Luis Eduardo Magalhaes International Airport, Salvador da Bahia, Brazil on April 1st.
The Airbus A321-200, en-route from Salvador to Brasilia, was climbing out of runway when one of the plane’s engines ingested a bird, prompting the plane to return.
The plane landed safely.
All 108 passengers onboard remained unharmed.

What: British Airways Airbus A319-100 en route from London UK to Zurich Switzerland Where: Zurich When: Dec 11th 2011 Why: On approach to Zurich, passengers and crew smelled an odor described as “burning” and “electrical.”
The crew made an accelerated approach and wore oxygen.
They made a safe landing.
Pilots taxied to the gate as usual, and passengers disembarked, with emergency services on standby.

What: American Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from New York to Paris Where: Halifax /Bangor When: Dec 30th 2009 Who: 180 passengers Why: While en route, the discharge from a toilet water leak froze into a block of ice on the fuselage. It broke off and was sucked into the right engine, causing a big bang, which the passengers heard, and causing subsequent engine vibration and a probable oil leak.
The pilot requested to divert first to Gander, then to Bangor Maine. They landed safely, with no injuries, although 7000 lbs heavy.
A replacement jet was provided for the passengers.

What: Marion Flying Club Cirrus SR-20 en route from Marion Municipal Airport Where: CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill When: Nov 26, 2011 10:30am Who: 4 fatalities Why: The one-engine Cirrus SR-20 was flying in rainy, overcast conditions when it crashed in a soybean field on a farm unincorporated McHenry County, killing the four aboard the plane. Marion businessman Ray Harris and his daughters Ramie and Shey were killed in the crash, along with one of the girl’s boyfriends. On impact, the plane shattered into debris which was spread over 100 yards. The plane carries a parachute, which had been deployed but it was tangled in a tree, which may have contributed to the wreck.
The pilot, Harris, had been flying one of his daughters back to Wheaton College.
