    What: United Airlines Boeing 777-200 en route from Los Angeles ,CA to Narita
    Where: Los Angeles
    When: Oct 5th, 2009
    Why: About twenty minutes after takeoff, the plane experienced a hydraulics leak. The flight crew decided to return to LAX, where it landed safely at 2:21 p.m.

    Maintenance crews are inspecting the plane.

    Piper Emergency Landing in Litchfield


    What: PA18 (Piper super cub)
    Where: LITCHFIELD, MN a field near a patch of woods the Doerings own southeast of Elrosa. The crash site is 1/2 mile S. of County Road 14
    When: 01/10/2009
    Who: 1 pilot 1 passenger Eric and Ray Doering
    Why: The Piper landed in a field . 48 feet of touching down, deep snows flipped the aircraft. Minor damage made it necessary for the plane to be trailered out.

    ATA Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tabriz

    ATA Airlines flight I3-5653 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tabriz, Iran, on April 9th.

    The plane took off for Tehran, Iran, but had to turn back due to cabin pressure problems.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands in Spain; 1 Killed, 1 Injured

    microlightA micro-light plane made a crash-landing in an orange orchard near the runway of Seville Airport, Spain, on August 23rd.

    The aircraft crash-landed after the pilot lost consciousness mid-air and his wife, with “no notion” of flying a plane, had to take charge.

    The flight was heading towards Coria del Rio from Trebujena, at the time.

    The pilot lost his life while his wife sustained serious injuries.

    Saab Lands with Stuck Landing Gear

    What: Carpatair Saab 2000 en route from the Moldovan capital, Chisinau, to Timisoara in Rumania
    Where: emergency landing at Timisoara International Airport in Western Romania
    When: Feb 28, 2009
    Who: 51 people-47 passengers, 4 crew.
    Why: Six miles from the airport, the crew discovered that the plane’s landing gear was stuck. After the flight circled for two hours burning fuel, the plane landed safely on the main landing gear on a 200-yard long bed of foam. No injuries were reported.

    Carpatair vice-president Dan Andrei is reported to have said, “When it landed, the plane came down on the side wheels; it braked sharply and at a low speed it came on its front belly, while the front landing gear remained stuck.”

    Freight Flight Nosegear Collapses

    What: Freight Runners Express Beech 1900C en route from Milwaukee,WI to Dayton,OH
    Where: Milwaukee
    When: Sep 16th 2010
    Who: pilot
    Why: The approach to Dayton was aborted when the pilot received an unsafe gear message. The pilot returned to Milwaukee, and entered a holding pattern while pilot and ACC attempted to solve technical issues.

    On landing in Milwaukee, the nose gear collapsed. The plane was damaged, but the pilot was unharmed.
