    What: Transavia Boeing 737-BK2 En route from Sharm el-Sheikh to Amsterdam
    Where: Primošten Croatia
    When: Oct 20, 2012
    Who: 192 aboard
    Why: While the flight was en route over Croatia, smoke and the odor of burning plastic developed in the cabin. The pilot diverted to Zagreb-Pleso airport and made a safe landing although two passengers complained of breathing problems. Emergency Medical Services at the airport treated them.

    Apparently there was no one available certified on Boeing, so an expert from Amsterdam was called in.

    While passengers spent the night at a hotel, a replacement plane was flown in.

    American Airlines Plane Returns to Miami

    american airlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA-88 had to return and make an emergency landing in Miami, Florida, on August 13th.

    The plane had just departed for LaGuardia Airport, New York, when the crew suspected that one of the tires had blown during departure and decided to return.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Smokey Plane has Emergency Landing at Bush Intercontinental Airport


    What: Continental Express Flight 5570 Bombardier CRJ-200 operated by Chautauqua Airlines, en route to Louisville, Ky., but returned to Houston
    Where: Bush Intercontinental Airport
    When shortly after 8 a.m
    Who: 30 passengers and three crew members
    Why: Smoke in the cockpit. Passengers reported seeing white smoke coming from the engine. The plane landed safely; No one was injured and no other flights were delayed. Officially the source of the smoke has not yet been found.

    Boeing Depressurizes over Moscow

    What: Yakutia Airlines Boeing 757 en route from Vnukovo airport to Yakutsk.
    Where: Vnukovo airport in the Russian capital of Moscow
    When: Apr 7th 2009
    Who: 174 passengers and nine crew members
    Why: After takeoff, the pilot experienced technical problems. The cabin depressurized; and the pilot decided to return to the airport of origin to land; however, before landing, the plane circled the airport for three and a half hours to burn off excess fuel.

    KLM Cityhopper Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    KLM Cityhopper flight KL-1183 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on August 24th.

    The plane took off for Linkoping, Sweden, but had to turn back due to lightning strikes.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Norwegian Air Shuttle Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    Norwegian Air Shuttle flight D8-5370 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on November 5th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Alicante, Spain, to Copenhagen, Denmark, was diverted due to a generator failure.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
