    Emergency Landing at Wellington Airport

    When: 9.45am. Tue, 18 Nov 2008
    Who: 19 passengers.
    Why: pilots noticed a warning indicator light on. The flight returned to Wellington and landing safely at 9.45am.

    Commutair Plane Returns to New York after Engine Failure

    CommutAirCommutair flight C5-4968/ UA-4968 had to return and make an emergency landing at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Cheektowaga, New York, on June 14th.

    The de Havilland Dash 8-200, en-route to Washington DC, on behalf of United Airlines, had to return when the crew noticed an engine failure just after it took off. The engine had to be shut down.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 40 people aboard remained unhurt.

    Air Leisure Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cairo

    Air Leisure flight AL-730 had to return and make an emergency landing in Cairo, Egypt, on February 18th.

    The Airbus A340-200 plane took off for Shanghai, China, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew received a cargo door open indication.

    The plane landed back safely. All 265 people aboard remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Argentina

    American Airlines flight AA-996 had to return and make an emergency landing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on March 29th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, but had to return shortly afterwards due to issues with the cabin pressure.

    The plane landed back safely and was towed to the apron.

    All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Chattanooga Emergency Landing

    What: Airtran Boeing 717-200 en route from Washington to Atlanta
    Where: Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport
    When: Mar 12 2010
    Who: 117 passengers
    Why: While en route to Atlanta, the flight diverted to Chattanooga due to Atlanta weather. On approach to Chattanooga, the Boeing was struck by lightning; it did, however make a safe landing at 4:13 p.m. While an alternative plane was provided for passengers, the Boeing that was hit by lightning is out of service pending inspection.

    American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Portugal

    American Airlines flight AA-66 had to divert for an emergency landing in Porto, Portugal, on January 22nd.

    The plane was flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to Barcelona, Spain, when the crew decided to divert due to an engine oil issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 151 passengers and 8 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.
