Jetstar Airways flight JQ-956 made an emergency landing in Brisbane, Australia, on September 22nd.
The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Sydney to Cairns, Australia, was diverted after one of the engines developed a technical problem.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

What: Airtran Boeing 717-200 en route from Indianapolis to Baltimore
Where: Dayton
When: Aug 12th 2010
Who: 48 passengers and 5 crew
Why: When the left engine developed problems after leaving Indianapolis, the crew diverted to Dayton where they made a safe landing and taxied to the gate.
According to the video, passengers hopped alternative flights.
Maintenance determined that the cowling of the left hand engine had separated. AirTran is flying in its own mechanics.
What: Delta Boeing 757 en route from Atlanta to Costa Rica
Where: Tampa International Airport
When: January 15, 2011 7:34 p.m
Who: 2 unruly passengers
Why: When Peter and Gabriele Strohmaier of Dusseldorf, Germany demanded champagne and food and refused to sit down, pilots made an emergency stop in Tampa and dropped them off.
The flight continued to Costa Rica.
Norwegian Air Shuttle flight DY-1348 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Stavanger, Norway, on December 16th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Oslo, Norway, to Manchester, United Kingdom, was diverted after the crew noticed smoke in cockpit.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

What: Egypt Air Boeing 777-200 en route from Cairo Egypt to New York
Where: Athens
When: Dec 31st 2009
Who: 293 passengers and 15 crew
Why: While en route, the right engine developed an oil leak, and the crew had to shut it down. The pilot diverted to Athens where the plane landed safely on a long runway. A replacement flight was dispatched.
Southwest Airlines flight WN-4077 had to return and make an emergency landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 23rd.
The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Ontario, California, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a control issue.
