Delta flight 95 had to turn back for emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Georgia, on January 18.
The Boeing 777, en-route from Atlanta to Narita, Japan, had to return after a pilot of another flight reported smoke coming out of its landing gear.
The plane landed safely and all 308 people aboard remained unharmed.
Firefighters and technicians inspected the plane and cleared it at around 1 p.m. after which it again took off for Japan.
Air India flight-9604 had to return and make an emergency landing at Bamrauli Airport in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, on October 21st.
The plane took off for New Delhi, India, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a technical snag.
The plane landed safely. There were 48 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.
Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-755 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Lahore, Pakistan, on October 11th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Sialkot, Pakistan, to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was diverted after the crew received a cargo smoke indication.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Why: After taking off 6 hours late after ground stops due to the weather, after five minutes in flight, smoke in the cabin forced the pilots to divert to Logan Airport. Emergency was declared due to “smoke in the lavatory.” In the meantime, passengers were covering their faces because of the smoke. A leak, mechanical problem and possible fire was reported on the Continental flight and speculation is that de-icing fluid had infiltrated the engine, causing burn-off.
The plane landed safely at Logan, with emergency crews on standby.
37 passengers boarded another plane around 3 pm to continue to their destination.
Sixteen year-old Autumn Veatch tried to save her step-grandparents after she survived a fiery small plane crash impacting a Washington mountain. The Beech A35 aircraft struck Saturday and she survived two days on her own, after scrambling out of the burning plane with her hair on fire.She tried but could not rescue her grandmother, Sharon Bowman, nor her grandfather, Leland Bowman.
The Beech A35 Bonanza crashed in the North Cascades, west of Mazama, WA between Kalispell and Lynden. Weather was a key factor in the accident. A second plane crashed into Twin Sisters mountain in the North Cascades on the same day.

A British Airways flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Azerbaijan, on April 10.
The Airbus 321 departed for London but had to turn back shortly afterwards after one of its engines caught fire.
The plane landed uneventfully and all 92 passengers and crew members remained safe.
