    Air France flight AF-4001 rejecting taking-off at Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport, Forte de France, Martinique, France, on April 16th.

    The Airbus A340-300 en-route to Moscow, Russia, was about to take-off due to smoke emerging from its landing gear.

    The plane towed to the apron uneventfully.

    All 266 people aboard remained safe.

    Travel Service Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cabin Fire Indication

    Travel Service flight QS-1580 made an emergency landing in Burgas, Bulgaria, on August 1st.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Bratislava, Slovakia, was on approach to Burgas when the crew declared an emergency due to a cabin fire indication.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All one hundred and seventy-eight people aboard remained unharmed.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Jack Brooks Regional Airport

    A private, single-engine plane made an emergency landing at Jack Brooks Regional Airport in Beaumont, Texas, on January 3.

    The incident happened when a Southeast Texas family was returning home from vacation in Colorado. Airport authorities said the pilot sought permission for emergency landing after the plane’s landing gear failed to deploy.

    The plane landed on its belly. Everyone aboard, including 2 adults and a child, remained unharmed.

    UPS Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Shannon Airport

    UPSUnited Parcel Service flight 213 had to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on September 25.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 plane, heading from Louisville, Kentucky to Cologne, Germany, was diverted after the pilots noticed issues with one of its three engines and had to shut it down.

    The plane landed safely. There were 6 crew members aboard at the time; none of them was hurt.

    The plane was taken for inspection.

    Cessna Makes Emergency Landing on US Highway 301

    emergencyA Cessna aircraft made an emergency landing on US Highway 301 in Manatee County, Florida, on the morning of September 11.

    Authorities said the pilot was attempting to land at Sarasota–Bradenton International Airport but could not make it. According to airport spokesperson Lionel Guilbert, “He descended. He said his engine started sputtering and at about 900 feet. The engine just quit altogether.”

    The plane landed without incident. The pilot, identified as flight instructor Thomas Frick, remained unhurt.

    The FAA is investigating.

    Southwest Airlines Boeing Lands Safely on One Engine

    What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 [see example above] en route from the McCarran International Airport en route to Long Island, New York.
    Where: McCarran International Airport Las Vegas
    When: Thursday afternoon shortly after taking off–at 3:28 p.m.
    Who: 118 passengers
    Why: The crew of the Southwest Airlines Boeing shut down one engine when it caught on fire; and used the remaining working engine to make the emergency landing safely.
