On May 18, 2013, a UtAir Boeing 737-46M from from Stavropol and landing in Moscow caught fire on the runway as it was landing.
The burning landing gear were extinguished by emergency responders prompt action. About 129 passengers and seven crewmade an emergency exit via slide and wing on to the runway.

Why: A hot air balloon with 32 aboard caught fire and crashed into a tree, burning four beyond recognition. At least six children were injured. Then people at the scene were reported resuscitated; eight in the crash were in critical condition. One passenger was quoted as saying “we were landing, but I think the speed was too high for landing so we hit the ground, bounced off once and hit it again. We held on, but five of us fell out“. Twenty-one were admitted in the hospital Ljubljana, and seven to other hospitals. The injured included one brit and three Italians.
When the balloon hit the ground and and bounced back in the air, some passengers jumped or fell out, scattering the injured across four locations and making it more difficult for rescuers. Nine teams with ambulances and twelve emergency medical service teams responded as well as 79 firefighters, 20 fire fighting vehicles and three helicopters.
The balloon takes off and lands in uncontrolled airspace and does not need air traffic control clearance.
Prime Minister Janez Janša, Minister for Health Tomaz Gantar, Minister of Defense Aleš Hojs and Interior Minister Vinko Gorenak expressed condolences.
The cause is being attributed to ground level wind shear. The pilot needed to retake a health exam to renew his license in June.
Five are unidentified.
The on board extinguishers apparently had cracked cylinders.

Why: The pilot was landing at Mt Gambier when the landing gear failed. It apparently retracted while landing.
The plane came to rest pitched on its side in a pool of leaked fuel. No injuries were reported.
A small plane made an emergency landing at Grove Municipal Airport, Oklahoma, on October 7th.
The Cessna 172 plane was flying from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Chicago, Illinois, when the pilot declared an emergency due an electrical fire onboard.
The plane landed safely. There were two people aboard at the time, including a father and son; both of them remained unharmed.
The plane belongs to Engineers Flying Club, Bethany, Oklahoma.
A small plane had to make an emergency landing on 21st Avenue, Galva, McPherson County, Kansas, on March 22.
The Hawker Beechcraft G36 flying from Wichita, Kansas, was mid-air above McPherson County when the pilot detected trouble with mechanical indicators, deciding to make an emergency landing.
The plane’s engine had failed and the landing gear was damaged.
Both the pilot and the passenger were unharmed.

Why: NACIL B747-400 aircraft was en route from Mumbai to Riyadh with 213 passengers and 16 crew members onboard. While taxing for takeoff, the controller informed the aircraft that there was a heavy fuel leak from the left side of the aircraft and instructed to switch off the engines immediately as the fire had developed. The crew carried out the emergency shut down for all the engines. The Cabin crew ordered evacuation. Passengers and crew evacuated the aircraft safely through slide chutes. Fire services reached the aircraft and put off the fire.
On Sept 9, a DOSAAF-operated Mil Mi-2 helicopter en route from Starorusskoye to Poronaysk Russia crashed with three aboard on Sakhalin Island. There were no survivors. The helicopter, registration HS-TEF, is a total loss.
The crew was monitoring rivers when it crashed about 30 kilometers from Dolinsk.
Emergency services responded, including the Dolinskogo fire squad, the Russian Emergency Management Services group and an Antonov An-2 aircraft out of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport. THe fire was extinguished at 1:45 pm.
The cause of the accident is under investigation and no conclusions have been drawn. Visibility and weather conditions at the time were good according to the Center for Crisis Management of the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
