    Boeing Emergency Landing in Sochi, Russia

    What: Donavia Boeing-737-500 passenger airliner flying from Rostov to Tel Aviv
    Where: Sochi, Russia
    Who: 99 passengers * also reported as 103
    Why: The flight made a scheduled stop at Sochi, but after takeoff had undesignated problems in the air, and had to return to make an emergency landing. A replacement plane arrived to perform the remainder of the flight about six hours later.

    The problem was due to cabin pressure from a leaking door seal.

    Eurowings Flight Diverts to Prague due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    Eurowings flight EW-5805 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Prague, Czech Republic, on April 20th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Hanover, Germany, to Vienna, Austria, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Norwegian Air Shuttle Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Shannon Airport

    Norwegian Air Shuttle flight DY-7019 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on June 11th.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane heading from Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, was diverted due to a technical issue.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and ninety-four people aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Vladivostok Avia Tu-204 en route from Moscow to Blagoveshchensk
    Where: Yekaterinburg
    When: June 20, 2010
    Who: 116 passengers (11 children)
    Why: While en route, an engine malfunctioned and the flight had to divert from Blagoveshchensk to Yekaterinburg. A replacement jet was provided which is scheduled to take off at 7:30 Yekaterinburg time

    Bird-Hit Avianca Brazil Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing in Brazil

    AviancaAvianca Brazil Airlines flight O6-6326 made an emergency landing in Ilheus, Brazil, on June 16th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane was flying from Brasilia, Brazil, when a bird hit it, damaging the nose cone.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Allegiant makes Duluth Emergency Landing One Engine Down

    What: Allegient Air McDonnell Douglas jet en route from Duluth to Las Vegas
    Where: Duluth
    When: May 18, 2012, 9 p.m.
    Who: 140 passengers, 5 crew
    Why: While en route about fifteen minutes into the flight, passengers on Allegiant Air Duluth-Las Vegas heard a loud bang. Pilots declared emergency.

    Fifty miles into the flight, pilots shut down the affected engine, and returned to Duluth International Airport. Emergency services including National Guard, firefighters and emergency responders were on stand by.

    Passengers were offered $50 vouchers and the opportunity to stay at the Residence Inn. Passengers were told that the replacement flight departed at 2:30 p.m. Saturday but it did not depart until 3:55 pm. Meanwhile, Allegiant Mechanics removed the ailing engine from the disabled plane.
