    Allegiant Air Emergency Landing in Las Vegas

    What: Allegiant Air MD80 en route from Duluth to Las Vegas
    Where: Duluth International Airport
    When: May 18, 2012 9 pm
    Who: 141 passengers, 5 crew
    Why: Fifty miles into the flight, the engine made an explosive noise. Pilots came online and made an announcement to passengers that they had blown an engine.

    Pilots returned to Duluth where they made a safe landing. Emergency services made up of Air National Guard and Duluth Fire Department were on standby. Passengers were clapping when they were on the ground.

    A replacement jet was called and the fight is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported.

    KLM Cityhopper Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    KLM Cityhopper flight KL-1767 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on June 7th.

    The plane took off for Frankfurt, Germany, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported issues with the cabin pressure.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Air Arabia Egypt Plane Diverts to Cairo due to Engine Issues

    Air ArabiaAir Arabia Egypt flight E5-337 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Cairo, Egypt, on June 29th.

    The Airbus A320-200, heading from Borg El Arab Airport, Alexandria Governorate, Egypt, to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was diverted due to problems with an engine.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 120 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Flydubai Plane Makes Safe Landing After Bird Strike

    flydubaiFlydubai flight FZ-321 made a safe landing after a bird strike in Multan, Pakistan, on September 27th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was flying from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when its right engine ingested a bird.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    What: American Airlines Boeing 757 en route from San Diego to Dallas
    Where: Los Angeles International Airport
    When: Friday August 21
    Who: 188 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: While en route to Dallas, passengers observed pieces of the right wing falling off. The crew declared an emergency and landed at LAX. Maintenance crews discovered that “delamination of a seal.”

    Passengers were able to board another plane bound to arrive at their destination on midnight Friday.

    FedEx Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Pressurization Problem

    FedExFedEx Express Flight 406 made an emergency landing at Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, Kansas, on February 26th.

    The Boeing 757, en-route from Portland, Oregon, to Memphis, Tennessee, when the crew reported a pressurization problem and requested an emergency landing.

    The plane landed safely. There were two people aboard at the time; both of them remained unhurt.
