    What: PIA Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A310-300 en route from Islamabad to Manchester
    Where: Moscow
    When: Dec 20th 2009
    Who: 189 passengers and 12 crew
    Why: While en route, the crew received a fuel pump warning. The flight diverted to Moscow where the plane landed safely. Passengers were provided an alternative plane.

    American Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing After Bird Strikes

    American Airlines flight AA-721 made a safe landing following bird strikes near Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on March 5th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane flying from Charlotte, North Carolina, was on final approach when the left engine ingested several birds.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Airbus Abandons Yemenia Air


    Splitting the blanket?

    Because Airbus has circulated the statement that the crash was due to “technical problems” (when no official statement should be made prior to an investigation), 49% Saudi-owned Yemenia Airlines is rumored likely to pull it’s order for 10 Airbus A350s. The order has been standing since a 2007 airshow, and involves millions. The Yemenia Airlines crash that occurred during a stormy weather landing on the Comoros Islands involved an Airbus.

    VietJet Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Hong Kong

    VietJet Air flight VJ-885 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Hong Kong, China, on August 30th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and three passengers and seven crew members remained unharmed.

    Candy Bomber Emergency Landing in Berlin

    What: Air Service Berlin Douglas C-47 Skytrain, Vintage DC3 “Rosinenbomber”
    Where: Berlin’s Schoenefeld airport
    When: June 19, 2010
    Who: 3 crew, 25 tourists, 7 injuries
    Why: After the left engine failed, the DC3 made an emergency landing at Schoenefeld airport in Berlin. The flight made a safe landing. The plane was part of a 1948-49 fleet that carried supplies during the Berlin Airlift, and is now used to shuttle tourists.

    On landing, the right wing and engine separated resulting in a small fire.

    Avianca Jet Returns to San Salvador

    AviancaAvianca airlines flight AV-929 returned and made an emergency landing in San Salvador, El Salvador, on November 19.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane, heading to Lima, Peru, was diverted after the crew noticed a hydraulic problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remains safe.

    Authorities said the aircraft was cleared to take off again after maintenance.
