VietJet Air flight VJ-885 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Hong Kong, China, on August 30th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.
The plane landed safely. All one hundred and three passengers and seven crew members remained unharmed.
LATAM flight LA-8084 made an emergency landing in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on December 20th.
The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Sao Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport, Brazil, to Heathrow Airport, England, was diverted due to electrical problems.
Several tires deflated as the plane touched down.
All three hundred and forty-one passengers and sixteen crew members remained unharmed.
Piedmont Airlines flight PDT-4868 had to return and make an emergency landing at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip, New York, on May 16th.
The plane took off for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but had to return shortly afterwards after a light bulb in the cockpit started emitting smoke.
The plane landed back safely. All 40 passengers and 3 crew members remained unharmed.

Why: The flight was well underway when passengers and crew smelled smoke in the cabin.
Pilots diverted to Kansas City Missouri, where they made a safe landing.
A KING 5 News employee was a passenger aboard the flight and posted on twitter that everyone was ok.
The problem was repaired, and the plane was re-boarded, continuing on to its destination.
Delta Airlines flight DL-8957 was intercepted by two Greek F-16 fighter aircrafts on May 19th.
According to the airline, the radio contact with Greek ATC was lost for a brief period of time when the Boeing 767-400, en-route from Frankfurt, Germany, to Kuwait, was transiting through Greek Airspace.
The fighter jets returned to the airbase as the communication was restored.
The flight continued to Kuwait.

The flight resumed after the faulty equipment was replaced.
Air India flight AI620 had to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, India, on March 28th.
The plane, flying from Hyderabad, was forced to make an emergency landing after smoke was detected in the undercarriage.
The plane landed eventfully. All 120 passengers aboard were safely evacuated.
