What: United Airlines/Shuttle America Embraer ERJ-170 en route from Denver,CO to Toronto
Where: Denver
When: Nov 23rd 2011
Who: 68 passenger
Why: While climbing out of Denver, passengers and crew smelled smoke in the cabin.

A newscast said that passengers heard a “pop” before the pilots turned around and returned to the Denver airport.

They made a safe landing. Passengers disembarked on the runway and were provided an alternative flight.

Why: While en route, the plane developed hydraulic problems and had to make a cautionary landing in Cleveland. The plane made a safe landing, with no injuries. The plane taxied to the gate, but there was no indication of the allocation of the passengers–whether they were provided alternative transportation or accommodated at a local hotel.

What: Saha Air Boeing 707-300 en route from Chabahar to Tehran Iran
Where: Chabahar
When: Nov 3rd 2011
Who: 77 passengers
Why: After taking off from Chabahar, the plane developed an oil leak in engine 2.

Pilots returned to Chabahar and made a safe landing. A replacement flight was provided.

Ryanair Flight Diverts to Birmingham due to Medical Emergency

RyanairA Ryanair flight had to divert and make an emergency landing at Birmingham Airport, England, on May 2.

The plane, en-route from Prestwick, Scotland to Faro, Portugal, had to be diverted after a passenger fell sick midair.

The plane landed safely just before 8:30 a.m.

The ill passenger was rushed to hospital.

United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Houston

United Airlines flight UA-4129 made an emergency landing in Houston, Texas, on March 19th.

The Embraer ERJ-145 plane flying from College Station, Texas, was on final approach to Houston when the crew declared an emergency due to an engine issue.

The plane landed safely. All thirty-two people aboard remained unharmed.

Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight Returns to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

Saudi Arabian AirlinesSaudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-753 made an emergency landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, India, on October 13th.

The plane took off for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to technical issues.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: Frontier Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from Kansas City, MO to Denver
Where: Kansas City
When: Nov 24 2009
Why: After take-off, the plane struck several geese. The right engine had to be shut down immediately. The plane immediately returned to the airport to land within ten minutes. This is after the same plane flew through a flock of birds last week, sustaining damage in both engines.
