What: Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Bogota Colombia to Atlanta GA
Where: Bogota
When: Dec 2nd 2009
Who: 115 passengers and 6 crew
Why: Half an hour into the flight, the outer pane of the copilot’s windshield window cracked. The plane returned to the airport in Bogota and made a safe landing.
American Airlines flight AA-54 had to divert and make an emergency landing in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on December 19th.
The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Chicago, Illinois, to Manchester, England, was diverted due to indication of oil pressure loss in one of the engines.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
A Boeing 757 cargo jet, flying for a DHL contractor, Air Transport, had to return and make an emergency landing at Portland International Airport, Oregon, on January 7.
The plane took off for Boeing Field, Seattle, shortly after 6:30 p.m. but had to turn back after atleast 5 northern pintail ducks hit it and caused engine troubles.
The plane landed uneventfully and no one aboard was injured. Authorities said 5 duck were found during cleaning.
A helicopter had to make an emergency landing in Kruger National Park (KNP), South Africa, on August 18.
Three KNP officials were aboard the helicopter when it experienced engine failure and power loss, forcing the pilot to land in emergency. It is believed that they were helping an on-ground game capture team in search of 2 missing rhinos.
The helicopter landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.
Managing executive of KNP Glenn Phillips, “We are grateful that our employees are all safe and no one was hurt; even grateful that the game capture team managed to recover the animals and ensure their safe return to the park.”

What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from San Diego to Atlanta
Where: Los Angeles
When: Jul 25th 2012
Who: 259 passengers, eight crew
Why: The flight was en route to Atlanta but when the landing gear did not retract, pilots diverted to Los Angeles.
They made a safe landing at 12:30 pm. No one was injured, and passengers were provided alternative flights.
United Airlines Flight 38 made an emergency landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Ohio, on April 28th.
The plane took off from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and was heading to Omaha, Nebraska, when it developed an engine problem, prompting the crew to declare an emergency.
The plane landed safely. There were 114 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.
The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
SpiceJet flight SG-160 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad, India, on July 4th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Mumbai to Delhi, India, was diverted due to the loss of cabin pressure.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
