    What: Air New Zealand Boeing 737-300 en route from Wellington to Auckland
    Where: Wellington Airport
    When: Aug 18 2010
    Who: 102 passengers
    Why: After takoff, the plane developed engine trouble and had to shut down an engine. They returned to the airport and made a safe landing.

    The engine trouble was due to ingesting a bird.

    A replacement jet was provided.

    Small Plane Crashes into Home in Florida; 1 Dead, 2 Injured

    A small plane crashed into a home near the Winter Haven Regional Airport, Florida, on February 23rd.

    The incident happened when instructor pilot James Wagner, 64, and student pilot Timothy Sheehy, 33, were performing simulated engine failure training.

    Wagner was killed in the crash while Sheehy survived with minor injuries.

    Authorities said one occupant of the house, 17-year-old Carmele Ngalamulume, was injured. All other occupants, including two people inside the house and three children playing in the front yard, remained unhurt.

    Delta Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Atlanta

    Delta Air Lines flight 2824 had to make an emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Georgia, on March 31st.

    The plane was flying from Lafayette, Louisiana, when the crew declared an emergency due to a possible nose gear issue.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Jet Airways Plane Returns to India after Tail Strike

    Jet Airways flight 9W-70 had to return and make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, India, on May 12th.

    The Boeing 737-900 flying to Bangkok, Thailand, had to return due to possible trail strike.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 180 passengers and 8 crew members remained safe.

    Bird strike Leads to Emergency Landing at Lagos Airport

    On March 28, 2013, a Royal Air Maroc Boeing 737-800 en route from Lagos to Casablanca spent ten minutes in the air after a bird strike on takeoff.

    126 were aboard when ten minutes into the flight, there was a bird strike that disabled an engine. The plane circled for about forty minutes to burn off fuel before attempting a return.
