    What: VivaAerobus Boeing 737-300 en route from San Jose Cabo to Monterrey
    Where: San Jose Cabo
    When: Aug 21st 2011
    Why: On takeoff, flight systems indicated there was a cargo fire.

    The flight returned to San Jose Cabo where it made a safe landing. Examination proved there was no fire, and the flight was delayed, but continued on to Monterrey.

    Egypt Air Flight Diverts to Sharm el Sheikh due to Engine Failure

    EgyptAirEgypt Air flight MS-621 had to divert and make an emergency in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, on August 4th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane heading from Kuwait to Cairo, Egypt, was diverted after one of its engines stopped working.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 304 passengers aboard remained safe.

    The passengers were accommodated in other flights.

    United Airlines Flight Returns to Chicago After Bird Strike

    United Airlines flight UA-1738 had to return and make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, on June 1st.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane took off for Miami, Florida, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.

    The crew had to shut one of the engines down before the plane touched down.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    NTSB launching team to investigate Boeing 777 crash in San Francisco

    The National Transportation Safety Board launched a full go-team to San Francisco, Calif., to investigate the July 6, 2013 crash involving Asiana Airlines Flight 214, a Boeing 777. The crash occurred while the aircraft was landing at San Francisco International Airport.

    NTSB Senior Aviation Accident Investigator Bill English will serve as investigator-in-charge. NTSB Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman is accompanying the team and will serve as the principal spokesman.

    * A cautionary note: The official investigation of the cause of the crash will take a year or more. No matter what news releases or speculations come about before the official investigation is just speculation.     SpiceJet Plane Overruns Runway at Mumbai Airport

    SpiceJet flight SG-703 overran the end of the runway at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, in Mumbai, India, on September 19th.

    The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 plane, flying from Varanasi, India, was attempting to land during heavy rain.

    The plane came to stop on soft ground. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    GETJET Airlines Flight Makes Emergency in Lithuania

    GETJET Airlines flight GJT-101 made an emergency landing in Vilnius, Lithuania, on November 25th.

    The Boeing 737-400 plane took off for Hurghada, Egypt, but had to turn back after the crew received indication of a landing gear problem.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and sixty people aboard remained unharmed.
