    American Airlines Flight Returns to Chicago due to Unusual Odor

    American Airlines flight AA-1191 had to return and make an emergency landing in Chicago, Illinois, on February 21st.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Newark, New Jersey, but had to turn back after an unusual odor was noticed on board.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was diverted due to issues with the cabin pressure.

    Norwegian Air International Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Gatwick Airport

    Norwegian Air International flight D8-2905 made an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport, England, on October 5th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Copenhagen, Denmark, was on approach to Gatwick Airport when the captain reported that the first officer had become ill and declared an emergency.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    Norwegian Air Shuttle Plane Diverts to Dublin Airport

    Norwegian Air Shuttle flight DY-7147 made an emergency landing in Dublin, Ireland, on December 3rd.

    The Boeing 787-900 plane heading from Gatwick Airport, England, to Boston, Massachusetts, was diverted due to a piece of luggage that belonged to a passenger who was not on the plane.

    The plane landed safely.

    Plane Hits Airbridge

    On April 22, 2013 at 10:30am, a Los Angeles-Sydney-Melbourne flight damaged its wing while on the ground.

    The United Airlines Boeing 747-400 was pulling into an air bay when it struck the airbridge of a parking bay at the airport in Melbourne.

    Passengers disembarked by stairs. There were no injuries but the plane required repairs.

    Moncton: American Airline Smokey Cockpit Emergency Landing

    What: American Airlines Boeing 777-200 en route from London to Chicago
    Where: Moncton
    When: May 3rd 2011, 3 pm
    Who: 150 aboard
    Why: While en route, the crew reported the smell of smoke, and diverted to Moncton in Canada.

    The plane landed with emergency services on standby and emergency services stayed until 5:20 p.m. The smoke in the cockpit turned out to be from an overheating battery. Dieppe Fire Department examined the plane. There were no injuries, and passengers were provided a room in the airport, so they didn’t have to go through customs.

    A replacement jet was flown in.
