    Pilot Gets Locked out of Cockpit; Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Las Vegas

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta flight 1651 made an emergency landing at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 29.

    The plane was en-route from Minneapolis to Las Vegas when the pilot went out of the cockpit to use bathroom. However on returning, he could not get in because the door got jammed. Fortunately, the first officer was in the cockpit. He promptly took over the controls and made an emergency landing.

    The plane landed uneventfully and taxied to the gate. All 168 people aboard remained unharmed.

    According to Delta spokesperson Lindsay McDuff, all pilots and first officers are trained to handle such situations.

    Spirit Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Palm Beach International Airport

    A Spirit Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Palm Beach International Airport, Florida, on December 27th.

    The crew declared an emergency after smoke was noticed in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    It is believed that the plane was flying from Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey.

    LOT Polish Airlines Flight Lands in Emergency at Glasgow Airport

    LOT Polish AirlinesA LOT Polish Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing at Scotland’s Glasgow airport at 11:35 a.m. on September 26.

    The decision for emergency landing was made after the crew received an alert from the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s fire protection system. The aircraft, carrying 260 people, was on its way from Chicago, US, to Warsaw, Poland, at the time.

    The plane landed safely and no one was hurt.

    An airline spokesperson Barbara Pijanowska-Kuras said, “The emergency landing of the plane was caused by a glitch in the fire protection system…There was no fire or smoke onboard.”

    Air New Zealand Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Auckland

    Air New Zealand flight NZ-706 made an emergency landing in Auckland, New Zealand, on January 24th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane was flying from Sydney, Australia, when the first officer became unwell.

    The captain continued the flight and landed safely. The first officer was taken to a hospital.

    Coast Guard Chopper Makes Emergency Landing in New York

    A Coast Guard Helicopter made an emergency landing in golf course of Richmond County Country Club, Staten Island, New York, on August 2.

    The chopper, heading from Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Bayonne, New Jersey, had to land in emergency due to fumes and smoke in cockpit.

    The helicopter landed uneventfully and all 4 people aboard remained safe.

    The cause of smoke is being investigated.

    What: yellow 1941 Naval Aircraft Factory N3N-3, a World War II-era trainer en route from from Flabob Airport in Riverside
    Where: in a field off North Laurel Avenue near Rialto Municipal Airport
    When: and had been gone less than 30 minutes before the 12:30 p.m. emergency landing
    Who: Pilot Kevin McKenzie
    Why: The plane had engine trouble and lost power at 150 feet. On landing, the plane suffered minor damage to the wings. There were no injuries.
