    Eurowings Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke in Cockpit

    Eurowings flight EW-7778 had to return and make an emergency landing in Hamburg, Germany, on September 14th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for Prague, Czech Republic, but had to turn back after the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Italy-Bound EasyJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in France

    EasyJet flight U2-2716 made an emergency landing in Lyon, France, on May 19th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Lisbon, Portugal, to Milan–Malpensa Airport, Italy, was diverted due to smoke in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    US Airways Airbus Returns to Charlotte

    Where: initially requested return to Philadelphia then Charlotte.
    When: Aug 1st 2009
    Who: 220 passengers
    Why: En route, the plane experienced an undisclosed technical issue preventing them from flying across the Atlantic. They received oceanic clearance from air traffic control, but requested it be revoked based on the “maintenance” issue

    What: Niki Airbus A321-200 en route from Malaga to Vienna
    Where: Vienna
    When: May 6th 2012
    Who: 1 injury
    Why: The plane had made a safe landing but at the gate, a loading bridge malfunction occurred. The bridge lifted the plane and damaged the door. Passengers did not disembark through the bridge, but instead through the back. One person who had initially said she was unhurt had a fracture. The plane received substantial damage.

    The airline reported that docking was correct but a sensor malfunctioned.

    8 Seriously Injured as UN Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Sudan

    HelicopterA helicopter, working for the UN-AN peacekeeping mission in Darfur, made an emergency landing in Saraf Omra, North Darfur, Sudan, on August 16.

    The incident happened when the helicopter was flying from El Fasher, North Darfur. According to a spokesperson “A UNAMID helicopter, an Mi-8, carrying 18 passengers and three crew on board made an emergency landing approximately 100 metres” (yards) from the helipad at a base belonging to the mission at Saraf Omra in North Darfur.”

    Eight people sustained serious injuries in the incident while others sustained minor injuries. They were shifted to Saraf Omra base for medical aid.

    The cause of emergency landing is not clear at the moment.

    JetBlue Flight Diverts to Fort Lauderdale due to Cracked Windshield

    JetBlue flight B6-1052 made an emergency landing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on May 6th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Tampa, Florida, was diverted due to a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
