    Swiss International Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Zurich

    Swiss International Air Lines flight LX-7288 had to return and make an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on July 4th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Johannesburg, South Africa, but had to turn back due to a nasty odor on board.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Spirit Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Fort Lauderdale

    Spirit Airlines flight NK-244 made an emergency landing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on July 31st.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane flying from Guatemala City, Guatemala, was descending toward Fort Lauderdale when the crew declared an emergency due to a strange odor in the cockpit.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All one hundred and forty-eight people aboard remained unharmed.

    Alaska Airlines Bird Strike

    What: Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Sacramento to Kahului
    Where: Sacramento
    When: April 9, 2011, 10:20am
    Who: 169 passengers
    Why: After takeoff from Sacramento, a bird was ingested into the plane’s engine, causing engine trouble. The flight returned to Sacramento where it made a safe landing. A replacement flight was scheduled for the afternoon.

    Recent bird include the Skywest/Delta Canadair CRJ 700 (Portland-Salt Lake City) strike on April 6 2011, the GOL Linhas Aereas Boeing 737-800 (Salvador-Aracaju) strike on April 3, and the Air France Boeing 777 strike in Paris (Paris-HongKong) on Mar 24.

    Delta Crewmember Injured by Turbulence

    Who:
    Why: The flight encountered turbulence on approach to Atlanta. One member of the flight crew was injured.

    Emergency Landing in Phoenix


    US Airways Phoenix to Philly developed engine vibration in a left engine and returned to Phoenix.

    The Boeing 757 circled Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport for 90 minutes to burn off fuel then in spite of unwanted oscillation, made a safe landing at 10:50 a.m. Passengers were provided other flights.

    The plane and its engine’s bad vibes are being inspected.

    Allegiant Air Flight Diverts to Orlando Sanford Airport After Bird Strike

    Allegiant Air flight G4-1592 made an emergency landing at Orlando Sanford International Airport, Florida, on July 25th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Punta Gorda, Florida, to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was diverted due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
