    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at University of Illinois Willard Airport

    An American Airlines flight had to return and make an emergency landing at University of Illinois Willard Airport, Illinois, on February 12th.

    The plane took off for Chicago, Illinois, but had to turn back after smoke was noticed in the cockpit.

    Alaskan Airlines Diverts to Sacramento

    Why: While the flight was en route, smoke “unidentified fumes in the plane “developed in the cabin. Pilots diverted to Sacramento where they made a safe landing at 4:42 pm. with emergency services on standby.

    There were no injuries although there was a report of a crew member getting oxygen.

    Passengers said the problem appeared to be electrical, and that a stewardess had “burning in her eyes and throat.”

    Passengers disembarked and were provided an alternative flight. The affected plane is slated for a Tuesday return to Seattle.

    Airlinair Plane Returns to Lyon with Cracked Windshield

    AirlinairAirlinair flight A5-4326 had to return for an emergency landing in Lyon, France, on March 11th.

    The plane operating on behalf of Hop! Airlines took off for Luxembourg, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in other flights.

    Germanwings Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Hamburg

    Germanwings flight 4U-7218 had to return and make an emergency landing in Hamburg, Germany, on January 29th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for Stockholm, Sweden, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported an unidentified odor on board.

    The plane landed back uneventfully.

    Three passengers were taken to hospitals with respiratory problems while several others were treated at the airport.

    All Nippon Airways Flight Returns to Manila due to Smoke in Cockpit

    All Nippon AirwaysAll Nippon Airways flight NH950 had to return and make an emergency landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, Philippines, at around 10:19 a.m. on November 21.

    The incident happened after the pilot reported smoke coming out of the Boeing B767’s cockpit. The flight was heading to Narita, Japan at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully and none of the 174 passengers and 10 crew members aboard was harmed.

    The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is investigating.

    Air India flight AI-111 made an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on February 7th.

    The plane flying from Delhi, India, was on approach to Heathrow Airport when a windshield cracked.
