    XL Airways Boeing Smoked out at Cologne-Bonn airport

    What: XL Airways en route through Boeing 737-800 from Hanover to Bonn
    Where: Cologne-Bonn airport
    When: Sept 3 2012
    Who: 186 passengers, 6 crew
    Why: An XL Airways plane at Bonn was evacuated when smoke filled the cabin. Seven passengers were treated on the scene and eleven in all were injured. Some passengers described an odor like kerosene.

    Passengers disembarked via the stairway on to the tarmac with emergency services on standby.

    In 2008, the same plane had an engine problem forcing an emergency landing.

    Air Canada Airbus Hydraulics Issue in Calgary

    What: Air Canada Airbus A320 en route from Calgary to Toronto
    Where: Calgary
    When: October 14, 2010
    Who: 158 passengers
    Why: While en route, instruments indicated that the plane developed problems with its hydraulics. The pilot returned to Calgary where they made a safe landing. Firefighting crews and 13 ambulances were on standby. The plane was towed off the runway to maintenance for observation and assessment.

    Two Killed after Small Plane Crashes in Texas

    A single-engine plane crashed immediately after take off from Elmdale Airpark in Abilene, Texas, on March 1st.

    Authorities said the two-seater Vans RV-6 experimental aircraft went down near the end of the runway.

    There were two people aboard at the time; Both of them were killed in the crash. They were identified as James Estol Hathcock, 63, and Aaron T. Taylor, 33, both of Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Kuwait Airways Flight Returns to Kuwait City due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    Kuwait Airways flight KU-619 had to return and make an emergency landing in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on December 28th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Doha, Qatar, but had to turn back due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Threat Called in to Skywest

    What: Skywest-Delta CRJ-200 commuter jet en route from Helena, Montana to Salt Lake City
    Where: Salt Lake City
    When: October 28, 2010
    Who: 46 passengers, 3 crew
    Why: A bomb threat call claiming there was an incendiary device aboard Skywest-Delta flight 4654 was reported to Skywest at St. George. Law enforcement was notified.

    Bomb-sniffing dogs did not find anything. The call is being traced, and security has been doubled.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Fort Myers

    United Airlines flight UA-2397 made an emergency landing in Fort Myers, Florida, on October 10th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Newark, New Jersey, but had to turn back after one of the engines emitted a loud bang followed by streaks of flame.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
