    Where: San Jeronimo mountains
    When: Dec 3 2011
    Who: 4 soldiers, 4 crew
    Why: The chopper crashed in the San Jeronimo mountains. No one aboard was seriously injured. The team had been deployed to support a fight against FARC, a group of drug traffickers.

    The chopper had just refueled and caught a crosswind. There was minor damage that is reparable.

    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Frankfurt

    Lufthansa flight LH-440 had to return and make an emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany, on December 1st,

    The Airbus A380-800 plane took off for Houston, Texas, but had to turn back after the crew noticed loss of engine oil.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Emergency: Air India Hard Landing at Thiruvananthapuram

    What: Air India A-330 en route from Thiruvananthapuram to Dammam Saudi Arabia
    Where: Thiruvananthapuram
    When: Nov 10, 2010, 6 pm
    Who: 82 passengers including two infants
    Why: The flight had a normal takeoff, but forty minutes into the route, the pilot received a sensor warning about the plane’s doors. The jet returned to the airport, circled to burn off fuel, and made a hard landing during which a tire burst and the brakes jammed. The plane was stuck on the runway for four hours.

    Passengers were rebooked on a Thursday morning flight out and provided overnight hotel accommodations.

    Officials of the Director General of Civil Aviation have arrived to begin the official inquiry.

    Norwegian Air Shuttle Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Sweden

    Norwegian Air Shuttle flight DY-4440 made an emergency landing in Gothenburg, Sweden, on February 2nd.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Gatwick Airport, England, was descending toward Gothenburg when the crew reported a possible fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and twelve people aboard remained unharmed.

    Embraer Emergency Landing in Palm Springs

    What: Sky West Flight 6552 Embraer en route from Palm Springs International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport
    Where: Palm Springs International Airport
    When: 5:46 p.m
    Who: 14 people on board
    Why: After the crew detected smoke in the cockpit right after takeoff, the Sky West flight was able to land safely.

    What: Trans States Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Chicago O’Hare,IL to Rochester,NY
    Where: Rochester
    When: Feb 22nd 2012
    Who: 42 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: The flight made a fast landing on the wet runway in less than ideal conditions, overrunning the edge of the runway.

    There were no injuries. Passengers disembarked and were driven to the gate; the plane had to be towed, which closed the runway. The plane had minor damage.
