    What: Sunexpress Boeing 737-800 en route from Antalya Turkey to Aarhus Denmark
    Where: Antalya
    When: July 14 2011
    Who: 180 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane developed vibration.

    The crew returned to Anatalya and made a safe landing. The issue was reported by official spokesmen as being a hydraulic problem (hydraulic pump failure), although a hydraulic problems would not cause vibration.

    Passengers were provided an alternative flight.

    Border Protection Chopper Fired-on Near Texas-Mexico Border

    A U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter had to make an emergency landing in La Bota Ranch, Laredo, Texas, on June 5.

    According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson, “The helicopter was impacted by gunfire, hitting the side of the aircraft and the rotor blade… The pilot was able to make a safe landing, there were no injuries.”

    The FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, USCBP, Laredo Police Department and Texas Rangers responded to the area.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Air New Zealand Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Palmerston North

    Air New Zealand flight NZ-5255 made an emergency landing at Palmerston North Airport, New Zealand, on November 29th.

    The plane heading from Tauranga to Wellington, New Zealand, was diverted after an electrical odor was noticed in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Female Chinese Fighter Pilot Dies in Plane Crash

    A Chinese fighter plane crashed near Tangshan in Hebei, China, on November 12th.

    The aircraft, piloted by one of the first female fighter pilots in the country, was participating in a routine training exercise when it went down.

    The pilot Yu Xu, 30, was killed in the crash while her co-pilot was able to eject before the impact using a parachute. He was injured and was taken to hospital.

    Authorities confirmed that both pilots belonged to the Bayi Aerobatics Team of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.

    Virgin Australia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Melbourne

    Virgin Australia flight VA-319 made an emergency landing in Melbourne, Australia, on October 20th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Brisbane, Australia, but had to turn back after the crew suspected a bird strike.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Emirates Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Heathrow Airport

    Emirates Airlines flight EK-18 made an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, London, England, on March 12th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane flying from Manchester, England, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was diverted after the crew failed to retract landing gear.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
