Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter Plane makes Safe Landing in Germany after Tyre Deflation

Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (LGW) flight AB-8883 made a safe landing at Düsseldorf Airport, Germany, on July 3rd.

The de Havilland Dash 8-400 flying on behalf of Air Berlin from Florence, Italy, was mid-air when the crew got information about tyre debris found on the runway after departure.

The plane landed safely after entering a hold.

No one was injured.

Inspection revealed that one of the plane tyres was deflated.

American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport

American Airlines flight 534 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, Missouri, on February 9th.

Authorities said the plane heading from Columbus, Ohio, to Phoenix, Arizona, was diverted for a security check.

The plane landed safely. There were 113 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

The plane was cleared after a thorough inspection and was able to depart for Phoenix.

Eurowings Flight Diverts to Kuwait City due to Bomb Threat

Eurowings flight 117 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on January 15th.

The plane heading from Salalah, Oman, to Cologne, Germany, was diverted due to a bomb threat.

The plane landed safely. There were 299 passengers aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

The authorities confirmed that no explosives were found upon inspection.

Fedex Federal Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cargo Smoke Indication

Fedex Federal Express flight FX-1590 made an emergency landing in Rochester, Minnesota, on January 10th.

The Boeing 757-200 plane was flying from Memphis, Tennessee, when the crew declared an emergency due to a cargo smoke indication.

The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

No evidence of fire or smoke was found upon inspection.

EgyptAir Flight Makes Emergency Landing after Bomb Threat

EgyptAirEgyptAir Flight 955 made an emergency landing in Urgench, Uzbekistan, on June 8th.

The plane, heading from Cairo, Egypt, to Beijing, China, was diverted after the authorities received a bomb threat.

Delta Airlines Plane Rejects Takeoff in Georgia after Tyre Burst

The McDonnell Douglas- 88 was accelerating to takeoff for Tulsa, Oklahoma, when the tower informed the crew that they had burst a tyre.

The plane returned to the taxiway for inspection.

It was later reported that the aircraft had also ingested tyre debris into its engine.

Malaysia Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Bomb Threat

Malaysia AirlinesA Malaysia Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah airport in Selangor, Malaysia, on May 18th.

The plane, heading to Singapore, had to return due to a bomb threat. Authorities said the airport’s reception received two phone calls saying there was a bomb on-board.

The plane landed safely. There were 30 passengers and 4 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

No explosives were found upon inspection.

The plane was flying from Palma de Mallorca Airport, Spain, when the crew received a fire indication and declared emergency.

Air Arabia Plane Diverts to Riyadh due to Cargo Smoke Indication

The plane took off for Chengdu, China, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported unusual noises coming from a cargo hold.

The cargo hold was thoroughly inspected but no indication of any movement or noise was found.

The plane was cleared to depart again.

Allegiant Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Alabama

Allegiant Air Flight 872 made an emergency landing in Birmingham, Alabama, on February 12.

The plane took off from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, Florida, and was en-route to Eppley Airfield in Omaha, Nebraska, when the crew reported an electrical odor in the cabin and requested an emergency landing.

The plane landed uneventfully. All 153 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.

The plane was taken for inspection.

Egyptian Government Hires International Firm to Audit Airport Security

In the wake of Metrojet flight 9268 crash, the Egyptian government has hired a London-based consultancy firm for auditing its airport security.

The firm ‘Control Risks’ will start by inspecting the airports in Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh.

According to Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal, “All Egyptian airports apply international standards in airport security… The air transport industry globally is facing several challenges… Airport security has risen to the top of these challenges, especially with the upsurge of terrorism in different parts of the world.”

Control Risks’ chief executive for Middle East and North Africa Andreas Carleton-Smith said, “There will be a comprehensive assessment, and this supports extensive work already undertaken in recent months by Egyptian and international government experts…We will be starting work directly to take forward this critical initiative.”

UPS Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Shannon Airport

UPSUnited Parcel Service flight 213 had to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on September 25.

The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 plane, heading from Louisville, Kentucky to Cologne, Germany, was diverted after the pilots noticed issues with one of its three engines and had to shut it down.

The plane landed safely. There were 6 crew members aboard at the time; none of them was hurt.

AA Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Orlando
