American AirlinesThe American Airlines flight 2275 had to make an emergency landing in Sacramento, California, after one of its tires blew out during takeoff, on August 6.

The passengers of the MD-82 aircraft said that they smelled a burning smell when the plane took off from Dallas Fort Worth Airport. However, they were only informed about the problem when they were about to land at Sacramento.

The plane landed uneventfully at around 7:42 p.m. and was towed to Terminal B. All passengers and crew members remained unhurt.

Three Injured after Porter Airlines Plane Runs into Turbulence

porterPorter Airlines flight PD-720 made an emergency landing at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport in Toronto, Canada, on July 15th.

The plane was flying from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, when it ran into severe turbulence that injured two flight attendants and a passenger.

Dana Air Semantic Wars


Dana Air is currently GROUNDED, not revoked.

Flights are not allowed, but the company is intact in order to appear in court. Whether or not Dana Air’s license is revoked will depend on the results of the investigation.

Media Assistant to the Aviation Minister, Mr. Obi said “Dana has no authority to claim that its license had not been suspended. No matter what Dana Air says about denying a revoked license, their jets will not be flying until the case has been settled. ”

The aircraft involved in the accident, a Boeing MD83 (Registration Number 5N-RAM), was maintained correctly and fully in accordance with the manufacturers schedule and directives from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

It had its last 400-hourly check (A-Check) on 30th May, 2012. The statutory annual maintenance (C-Check) was not due until September 2012. The Certificate of Airworthiness issued by the NCCA after its last C-Check was completely valid as at the time of the accident.

We adhere strictly to the maintenance schedule of all our aircraft as prescribed by the manufacturers, and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. Dana Air has a maintenance agreement with MyTechnic – an international, world-class aviation maintenance organisation (MRO) which is located at our Lagos base. It performs and supervises all local maintenance tasks including the daily servicing and release of our aircraft for operations. Our heavy scheduled maintenance checks (i.e. C-checks) are done by leading MRO companies overseas.

Dana Air will continue to offer the families assistance, and will provide further updates when possible.

Mexicana Boeing Diverts to Brasilia

What: Mexicana Boeing 767-300 en route from Sao Paulo to Mexico City
Where: Brasilia
When: Mar 28 2010
Why: While en route, the flight developed an oil leak, which prompted the crew to shut down the left engine. The crew diverted the flight to Brasilia and made a safe landing. Passengers were rebooked.

Southwest Airlines Flight Returns to Columbus due to Damaged Tire

Southwest Airlines flight WN-2803 had to return and make an emergency landing in Columbus, Ohio, on August 26th.

The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a damaged tire.

The plane landed safely. All one hundred and twenty-seven people aboard remained unharmed.

Piedmont Airlines Flight Returns to Philadelphia

PiedmontPiedmont Airlines flight PDT-4839 had to return and make an emergency landing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 27th.

The plane took off for Elmira, New York, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a hydraulic issue.

The plane landed safely. There were 32 passengers and 3 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

Plane Carrying Karmanos Family Makes Emergency Landing at Oakland County Airport

A plane, carrying members of the Karmanos family, had to make an emergency landing at Oakland County International Airport, Michigan, on June 14.

The owner of NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, Peter Karmanos Jr., his wife Danialle Karmanos and their four sons were heading from Detroit to New York when lightning struck their plane, causing an electric fire on-board.

The plane made a safe emergency landing and everyone aboard remained unharmed.
