    United Airlines Flight Returns to Washington Dulles International Airport

    new-united-logoUnited Airlines Flight 1564 had to return and make an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport in Dulles, Virginia, on the night of November 17.

    The Boeing 757 departed for San Francisco International Airport at around 6:30 p.m., but was forced to turn back due to a mechanical issue.

    The plane, carrying 151 passengers and 6 crew members, landed uneventfully. No one was injured.

    An airline official said, “Our maintenance team is currently inspecting the aircraft, and we will accommodate passengers to San Francisco later this evening.”

    Where: field near Railroad Street and Auto Center Drive near the Corona Municipal Airport
    When: Dec 17, 2009
    Who: pilot
    Why: While en route, the plane developed engine problems.

    The pilot made an emergency landing and flipped over after touchdown. He was able to extricate himself on his own, and was ported to Riverside Community Hospital with a broken nose and other injuries.

    Flybe Hydraulics Issue in Edinburgh

    What: Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400 en route from Bergerac (France) to Edinburgh
    Where: Edinburgh
    When: Jul 29th 2009
    Who: 54 people on board
    Why: On approach to Edinburgh, the crew noted a hydraulics problem and spent twenty minutes in a holding pattern while the problem was resolved. The plane landed safely.

    LOT Polish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Warsaw

    LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-91 had to return for an emergency landing in Warsaw, Poland, on June 15th.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Beijing, China, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with cabin pressurization.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Plane Diverts to Ireland due to Vibration Indications

    american airlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA-141 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, County Clare, Ireland, on May 23rd.

    The Boeing 777-200, en-route from London, England, to New York, was mid-air when the crew reported indications of vibrations and decided to divert.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 89 people onboard remained unharmed.
