What: PSA/ US Airways Canadair Regional Jet CRJ-200 en route from Milwaukee to Charlotte NC
Where: Mitchell International Airport
When: Thursday July 16
Who: 45 passengers
Why: While en route, the pilot received an indication that his plane was overheating, and returned to Mitchell. Passengers debarked on the runway and were shuttled to the terminal.
What: U.S. Airways passenger Airbus Flight 1549 enroute to Charlotte, N.C. taking off at t 3:26 p.m

Who: 155 on board scrambling onto rescue boat (50 passengers, three flight attendants and two pilots )
Why: Pilot hit a flock of geese after taking off from LaGuardia. (Two bird hits) Four minutes after takeoff passengers report hearing an explosion from the left side of the plane.
Heroic efforts were made, retrieving 150 from the freezing Hudson waters. (It was a 20-degree day.) Gov. David Paterson has called the rescue “miracle on the Hudson.”

The captain of US Airways 1549 is Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger, III. Captain Sullenberger has over 40 years of flying experience.” He a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy (B.S.), Purdue University (M.S.) and the University of Northern Colorado (M.A.)., former US Air Force (USAF) fighter pilot, who has served as an instructor and Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) safety chairman, accident investigator and national technical committee member, and has participated in several USAF and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) accident investigations.
Passengers are recorded saying the Captain walked the length of the aisle to verify everyone was safely out.

NTSB SENDING GO TEAM TO NEW YORK CITY FOR HUDSON RIVER AIRLINER ACCIDENT
The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a Go Team to investigate today’s crash of a US Airways Airbus A-320 (N106US) into the Hudson River in New York City.
Senior Air Safety Investigator Robert Benzon has been designated as Investigator-in-Charge of the 20-member team. NTSB Member Kitty Higgins is accompanying the team and will serve as principal spokesperson for the on-scene investigation. Peter Knudson is the press officer for the investigative team.
The team will be arriving in New York this evening.
U.S. Airways Flight 5095 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Augusta, Georgia, on April 20.
The plane was heading from Tallahassee, Florida, to Charlotte, North Carolina, when the pilot requested an emergency landing due to an out-of-order indicator light in the cockpit.
The plane landed safely and everyone aboard remained unharmed.
A US Airways Express flight, on its way from Albuquerque to Phoenix, had to make an emergency landing at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona on July 29, 2014.
The decision was made after smoke was detected in the lavatory of Bombardier CRJ900 series regional jet, which was being operated by Skywest Airlines.
The plane made an uneventful landing and no one was injured.
The Phoenix Fire crews and the airport police received the aircraft at the runway. The north runway of the airport remained closed for some time.

Who: 150 passengers and 5 crew
Why: During/after takeoff, the plane’s engine “popped” when the left engine compressor stalled. The pilot reported engine trouble, andreturned to Phoenix where they made a safe landing. An alternative plane was provided.

What: US Airways Boeing 757-200 en route from Philadelphia,PA to Orlando,FL
Where: Orlando
When: May 11th 2012
Why: The flight was en route when there was a bird strike impacting the nose. The bird made a “significant” dent in the plane. ATC says “Looks like you guys got punched in the nose, US Air”

What: Comair Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Montreal to New York

Who: 39 on board
Why: Just after takeoff, the pilot received an unsafe door warning. On returning to Montreal, maintenance repaired the door, and the plane returned to service.
