    Emirates Plane Pulled Off the Runway due to Smoke

    Emirates Airlines flight EK 609 was pulled off the runway at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, just before takeoff at about 7:45 p.m. on October 4.

    The Airbus 320 was ready to depart with 82 passengers aboard when the pilot detected smoke in the cockpit and called for emergency assistance. All the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated through chutes.

    “All the passengers and crew members were evacuated and the plane has been parked on one side. No one was hurt,” said Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson Pervez George.

    The airline said that the passengers were accommodated in another flight and the cause of smoke is being investigated.

    American Airlines flight AA-2229 had to divert and make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on May 10th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from LaGuardia Airport, New York, to Orlando, Florida, was diverted due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and fifty-six passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Tokyo Narita Airport

    Delta Airlines flight DL-38 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Tokyo Narita Airport, Japan, on October 19th.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane heading from Hong Kong, China, to Seattle, Washington, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and thirty people aboard remained unharmed.

    Swiss International Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dusseldorf

    Swiss International Air Lines flight LX-1024 made an emergency landing in Dusseldorf, Germany, on July 11th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Zurich, Switzerland, was on final approach to Dusseldorf when the crew reported an issue with gear extension and went around.

    The plane subsequently landed safely and was towed to the apron.

    The Boeing 787-800 flying from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Washington DC, had to divert due to an engine problem. The crew decided to shut down an engine mid-air.
