    What: TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A330-200 en route from Orlando,FL to Sao Paulo Brazil
    Where: Miami
    When: July 19th 2011
    Why: While en route, the odor of smoke was detected.

    The crew diverted the flight to Miami where they made a safe landing less than half an hour after smoke was detected.

    Seven hours later, hopefully after a good inspection, the flight continued to Sao Paulo.

    Saudi Arabian Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Saudi Arabia

    Saudi Arabian AirlinesSaudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-1794 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Abha Regional Airport, Abha, Asir, Saudi Arabia, on April 3rd.

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route from Jazan to Dammam, was mid-air when it had to divert after the crew was reported that there had been fumes of light emitted from the food preparation area of the plane.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All passengers onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were rebooked onto another flight.

    Bird-Hit Badr Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing in Khartoum

    Badr Airlines flight J4-341 made a safe landing following a bird strike near Khartoum, Sudan, on September 24th.

    The Boeing 737-500 plane flying from Damazin Airport, Sudan, was on final approach to Khartoum when a bird hit it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Egypt Air Flight Diverts to Sharm el Sheikh due to Engine Failure

    EgyptAirEgypt Air flight MS-621 had to divert and make an emergency in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, on August 4th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane heading from Kuwait to Cairo, Egypt, was diverted after one of its engines stopped working.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 304 passengers aboard remained safe.

    The passengers were accommodated in other flights.

    Aurora Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Russia

    Aurora Airlines flight HZ-209 had to return for an emergency landing in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia, on December 19th.

    The plane took off for Blagoveshchensk, Russia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew received an open door indication.

    The plane landed back safely. All 50 passengers and 4 crew members remained unharmed.

    Bulgarian Air Charter Plane Returns to Bulgaria after Engine Shut Down

    Bulgarian Air Charter flight IT-1113 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Varna Airport, Aksakovo, Varna, Bulgaria, on July 11th.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-82, after taking off for Germany, had just climbed out of Varna when the crew needed to shut down its right side engine, prompting the plane to return.

    The plane landed safely. All people onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.
