    Nepal Airlines Plane Returns to Nepal due to Unusual Odour

    nepal airlinesNepal Airlines flight RA-409 made an emergency return to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, on November 7.

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route to Hong Kong, China, had to return to Kathmandu due to an unusual odour smelled in its cockpit.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 121 people on board remained unharmed.

    Nepal Flight Diverts to Safer Topography after Bird Strike

    What: Tara Air de Havilland DHC-6-300 Twin Otter en route from Jumla to Nepalgunj
    Where: Surkhet Airport
    When: June 13, 2012
    Who: 19 passengers
    Why: Co-ilot Abhisek Rai was injured while flying the Tara Air jet from Jumla to Nepalgunj when a bird struck the plane’s front mirror.

    Captain Prabhakar Ghimire decided to divert the flight, and made a safe landing at Surkhet Airport.

    Thai Airways Flight Veers Off Runway at Dhaka Airport

    Thai Airways flight TG-321 veered off runway upon landing at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on July 24th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane coming from Bangkok, Thailand, burst right hand main tires before it temporarily veered off runway.

    The pilots safely steered the plane back onto the runway. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Yeti Airlines Flight Returns to India After Bird Strike

    Yeti Airlines flight YT-175 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bharatpur, India, on May 27th.

    The plane took off for Kathmandu, Nepal, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All twenty-two people aboard remained unharmed.

    Tunis Flight Blown Off the Runway

    What: Tunis Air Airbus A320-200 en route from Paris to Monastir to Djerba (Tunisia) with 67 passengers and 8 crew
    Where: Djerba
    When: Mar 10th 2012
    Why: While taking off, the flight was on the runway about to embark on the Djerba leg of the journey when the plane encountered wind which forced it off the runway, and caused some damage.

    The passengers evacuated. Rescue services were on the scene.

    There’s no indication of the disposition of the passengers.

    Goma Air Belly Landing, 18 safe in Nepal

    The nosegear of a Goma Air flight failed today while landing in Pokhara, Nepal, but there were no fatalities among the 18 passengers aboard. Some damage occurred to the plane after the nose gear failed to deploy. Flights to and from Pokhara airport have been suspended until the plane is removed from the runway.
