    Exploits Vallet Air Service Plane makes Hard Landing in Canada

    EVASExploits Vallet Air Service flight AC-7804 made a hard landing at Gander International Airport, Canada, on April 20.

    The Beech 1900D, flying on behalf of Air Canada, had its nose gear collapsed causing it to skid on its nose to a stop on the runway.

    There were 14 passengers and 2 crew members aboard. Three of them were injured.

    The plane sustained minor damage.

    Laser Pointer Forces Emergency Landing

    Two miles off shore of Waikiki, a US Coast Guard MH65 Dolphin was hit by a laser pointer. The pilot had to make an emergency landing at Barbers Point Air Station in Hawaii. A flight mechanic and rescue swimmer were aboard the helicopter when it had to divert back to the base.

    The crew was sent to have their eyes checked and are temporarily off-duty.

    It is a federal crime to aim a laser pointer at an aircraft.

    Turkish Harpist Fatma Ceren Necipoglu Returns Home


    Another victim is laid to rest in the ongoing saga of Air France Flight 447. This victim is neither Brazilian nor French. Among those whose remains were recently recovered and identified, Harpist Fatma Ceren Necipoglu was returned to Turkey on November 22, 2011, nearly two and a half years after the June 2009 crash of Air France Flight 447.

    When she went to the Rio Harp Festival to perform two recitals, she never expected to be returning as a memory.

    After a ceremony at Sisli’s Tesvikiye Mosque, Necipoglu was laid to rest. She was a 1999 graduate of the Department of Harp in Louisiana State University’s School of Music and piano and harp lecturer at the Anadolu University.

    Six Die in Crash in France

    On November 19, 2013, an Aircraft Guaranty Corp Trustee Socata TBM-700 was en route from Annecy – Haute-Savoie – Mont Blanc Airport with five men and one woman aboard when it developed problems. There were no survivors. They were all employed by part of the Vivialys, a real estate agency.

    The plane was en route from Annecy to Toussus-le-Noble when it crashed ten miles south of Auxerre after 11:00 am (1000 GMT) in a field near the village of Mouffy. Some reports say “There was heavy fog” at the time of the crash and a witness heard “a strange whistling noise”. The debris field is spread in a radius of 1000 feet.

    The aircraft was registered in the United States. The BEA, France’s Accident Investigation Bureau, sent four investigators.
