    OpenSkies Flight Diverts to Shannon Airport

    OpenSkiesOpenSkies flight EC-8001 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon airport, Ireland, on August 19th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Paris Orly Airport, France, to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted due to a gear well fire indication.

    The plane landed safely. All 89 passengers and 5 crew members remained safe.

    Air Show Emergency Landing


    On Sunday, pilot, John Klatt was performing at the QC Airshow at the Davenport Municipal Airport in Davenport, Iowa on the Air Guard demonstration team when he had to make an emergency landing.

    A piece broken off of the plane punctured his engine, spraying oil over his windshield. He jettisoned the canopy. Klatt told spectators that he had cut himself worse while shaving.

    Honduran President Makes Unanticipated Landing

    What: West Wind
    Where: Palmerola US military base

    Who: Honduran President Porfirio Lobo
    Why: The plane called “West Wind” made an unplanned landing at the US military base in Palmerola (Soto Cano air base in Comayagua) when it developed technical problems at 8000 feet. An indicator light that flashed on board the West Wind jet that instigated the decision to land.

    Lobo was flying to New Orleans to sign scholarship agreements to support the 50 best students from low-income families who graduate from high school will be sent on scholarship to good U.S. universities.

    The plane is being checked out and the President may continue on a different plane.

    Delta Airlines Plane Diverts to Tennessee after Engine Problem

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-762 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Nashville International Airport, Nashville, Tennessee, on May 8th.

    The Boeing 717-200, heading from Atlanta, Georgia, to Chicago, Illinois, had to divert after it encountered turbulence, resulting in the separation of its right hand engine’s cowl.

    The plane received substantial damage.

    All 114 people onboard remained unhurt.

    United Airlines Flight Returns to Chicago due to Flaps Problem

    United Airlines flight UA-2116 had to return and make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, on February 23rd.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Houston, Texas, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Southwest Airlines Plane Diverts to Milwaukee

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-4187 had to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 30th.

    The plane, heading from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Denver, Colorado, was diverted after the crew reported an unusual odor in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All 133 people aboard remained unhurt.

    Mechanics found that a small loose hose was the source of odor.
