    Several Crew Members Fell Ill; Aer Lingus Flight Lands in Emergency in Dublin

    Aer LingusA Boston-bound flight of Aer Lingus had to return and make an emergency landing at Dublin airport, after several crew members fell sick.

    Flight EI-139 carrying 280 passengers took off for Boston at about 4.23 p.m. on June 15. According to an airline spokesperson, the decision for emergency landing was made after a number of crew members reported feeling ill.

    Medical crews welcomed the Airbus A330 as it touched the ground shortly before 9 p.m. None of the crew needed hospital treatment.

    Aer Lingus said the incident is being investigated.

    ASL Airlines Belgium Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Belgium

    ASL Airlines Belgium flight 3V-76B had to make an emergency landing in Liege, Belgium, on January 12th.

    The plane flying from Bologna, Italy, was on approach to Liege when the crew aborted approach reporting an unsafe gear indication.

    The crew subsequently worked the checklists and landed uneventfully.

    All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    CRJ-200 Partial Gear Landing

    What: Delta /Atlantic Southeast Airlines 50-seat CRJ-200 Bombardier en route from Columbus to Atlanta
    Where: Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
    When: June 11, 2009
    Who: 19 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: On approach to Atlanta, the left main gear failed to extend, in spite of extended efforts. After a partial gear landing, the plane ended up off runway 27 right. No one was reported to be injured.

    Airbus Engine Shuts down

    What: THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A340-300 en route from Bangkok to Istanbul
    Where: Mumbai
    When: Apr 1st 2010
    Who: 289 passengers
    Why: While en route, one of the engines developed problems, and the crew had to shut it down and decided to divert to Mumbai. The flight made a safe landing, and was towed to the gate.

    140 passengers were directed to alternative airlines, and the rest were provided hotel accommodations and given a seat on a Turkish Airlines Friday flight.

    Passengers were booked on alternative flights.

    Where: East London
    When: Dec 22nd 2009
    Who: 16 people on board
    Why: While en route, the plane experienced engine trouble. The pilot shut down the engine and returned to East London where it made a safe landing.

    AeroMéxico Flight Returns to Mexico after Part of Engine Cover Comes Off

    aeromexicoAeroMéxico flight 3351 had to return and make an emergency landing at Mexico City International Airport, Mexico, on December 23.

    The plane took off for Cancún, Mexico, but had to return shortly afterwards after a portion of right engine cover became detached.

    The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.
