    Where: Bergen-Flesland Airport, Norway
    When: Oct 18, 2012, 7:30 a.m.
    Who: 17 aboard
    Why: The pilot was en route to Bergen when smoke in the cockpit forced him to land immediately; but he called off the mayday because he felt in control of the situation.

    Before landing, the pilot informed passengers.

    The crew stayed aboard until passengers were evacuated. The evacuation was described as undramatic.

    What: Swiss Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from St. Petersburg to Zurich
    Where: St. Petersburg
    When: Jan 10th 2010
    Who: 123 passengers and 5 crew
    Why: After a successful takeoff, the flight crew informed ATC that there were vibrations in one of the engines. The plane returned to Pulkovo Airport and made a safe landing, where maintenance confirmed a bird strike.

    Boston-Bound JetBlue Flight Diverts to Charleston

    A JetBlue flight made an emergency landing in Charleston, South Carolina, on February 8th.

    The plane heading from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Boston, Massachusetts, was diverted after an odor was noticed on-board.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    EasyJet Flight Forced to Divert due to Medical Emergency

    EasyjetEasyJet flight EZY8626 made an emergency landing at Paris Orly Airport, France, on April 30.

    According to an airline spokesperson, “EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY8626 from Palma to London Gatwick is diverting to Orly as a result of a passenger onboard requiring urgent medical assistance… The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority. The flight will continue to London Gatwick after the passenger is transferred to hospital…We apologise for any inconvenience experienced due to the diversion and resulting delay.”

    The nature of medical emergency is not known at the moment.

    Ice on PT2 Probe Disrupts Take Off

    What: First Air Boeing 737-200 en route from Winnipeg,MB to Rankin Inlet,NU
    Where: Winnipeg
    When: Feb 18th 2011
    Who: not available
    Why: The plane rejected takeoff on receipt of the left engine’s low power indication.

    Maintenance subsequently found ice on the PT2 probe. Disposition of the passengers was not released.

    PIA Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Karachi

    Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-319 made an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan, on July 5th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Islamabad, Pakistan, was descending toward Karachi when the crew reported a nose gear issue and requested to be towed off the runway.

    The plane landed safely and was towed off the runway.

    All one hundred and seventy-three people aboard remained unharmed.
