What: helicopter en route to a remote fishing camp near the Quebec-Labrador border
Where: wilderness in northeastern Quebec
When: Friday
Who: Two pilots–a man and woman–flown to hospital in nearby Schefferville, Que and are reported to be in good condition.
Why: No cause is given. The search began Tuesday after someone at the fishing camp called to say the helicopter hadn’t shown up. The crash was located by a Cormorant from Greenwood, N.S. at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday
Delta Airlines flight DL-886 suffered a tail strike after landing at LaGuardia Airport, New York, on December 6th.
The incident happened when the Airbus A320-200 plane was coming from Atlanta, Georgia.
No Injuries were reported.
Two gliders, one of which was a Let L-13A1 Blaník, collided in New South Wales in a rural area in Carrick, near Goulburn. The incoming glider clipped the tail of the two-seater which nose-dived to the ground.
One 72-year-old pilot, a member of Southern Tablelands Gliding Club, landed his glider safely.
The fifty year old pilot of the other glider died on impact with the ground. His 70 year-old passenger had to be extricated from the back seat of the aircraft. He sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital.
The accident occurred at 3.40pm on April 27, 2013.
Emergency services, including Ambulance, Police, Towrang RFS and Police Rescue responded.
The pilots were experienced. The ground crew including the winch operator and pilots of both gliders were on the same radio network but the club is “mystified” why the accident occurred.
A UH-60L Blackhawk helicopter crashed in Fort Hood, Texas, on November 23.
Authorities said the aircraft, the 7th Battalion, went down while it was on a routine training mission.
There were four crew members aboard at the time; all of them were killed. They were identified as Sgt. 1st Class Toby A. Childers, 40, of Kansas; Chief Warrant Officer 3 Stephen B. Cooley, 40, of Florida; Sgt.1st Class Jason M. Smith, 35, of Louisiana; and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Michael F. Tharp, 40, of Texas. All of them were assigned to 2nd Battalion, 291st Aviation Regiment, First Army Division West.
The cause of crash is being investigated.
WestJet flight 1402 had to return and make an emergency landing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on February 2nd.
The plane took off for Phoenix, Arizona, but had to turn back after smoke was noticed in the cabin and flight deck.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: Changhe CA109 (Agusta A109) Police helicopter

Who: 4 aboard missing, 1 rescued
Why: In Beijing, five crew members were in a police helicopter returning from a drill when it crashed into a reservoir. One crew member was rescued.
The drill occurred in a mountainous region of Miyun County that ended at 9:12 a m.

Why: Primary incident data indicates “unknown circumstances.”
The “type” is listed as “Weight-shift-control” with a 2 cycle engine. It looks extremely open to the air with minimal protection.
The father broke his ankle and arm in the crash. The son sustained minor injuries. Although medics reached the victims that night, the remote location hampered rescue efforts. They were evacuated Sunday by a Grand Canyon National Park helicopter. The father was ported to Dixie Regional Medical Center; the 20 year old son refused medical treatment.
