A privately owned Socata TB20 crashed in Cerro de los Rabadanes, Cuenca, Spain. All four aboard were killed after what was possibly a bird strike. The bird has been identified as a vulture. All people aboard were reported to be family members: a couple and their 25 and 22 year old daughters. The plane crashed in difficult terrain while en route to Oteros Pajares (León). The recovery team is finding the location a challenge.

Bird-Struck Jet Airways Flight Lands Safely in Kathmandu
Jet Airways flight 9W268 had to make an emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on December 29.The Boeing 737, en-route from Mumbai, was approaching the Kathmandu airport when a bird struck it, causing a minor fire in one of the engines.
Emergency protocol was deployed at the airport when the plane touched the runway. All 125 passengers and 6 crew members were safely evacuated while the fire was brought under control.
The aircraft was taken for examination.

Turkish Airlines flight TK-2828 made a safe landing after a bird strike near Trabzon, Turkey, on August 29th.The Airbus A321-200 plane flying from Istanbul, Turkey, was on final approach to Trabzon when a bird impacted it.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Plane Crash Landed at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
A Fokker 50 turboprop plane, operated by Skyward International Aviation, crash landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, early morning on January 4.The authorities said the plane, en-route from Wajir to Nairobi, landed on its belly due to landing gear failure. None of the 6 people aboard was injured.
The flight operations were temporarily halted at the airport and all incoming flights were diverted to Mombasa airport. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) later released a statement saying, “Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has concluded the inspection of the runway at JKIA. JKIA Runway 6 has been cleared by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and is now open. Arrival and Departure flight operations have resumed.”
According to the local media reports, the aircraft was struck by birds upon take off, one of which got stuck in the landing gear mechanism.
Six Die in Crash in France
On November 19, 2013, an Aircraft Guaranty Corp Trustee Socata TBM-700 was en route from Annecy – Haute-Savoie – Mont Blanc Airport with five men and one woman aboard when it developed problems. There were no survivors. They were all employed by part of the Vivialys, a real estate agency.
The plane was en route from Annecy to Toussus-le-Noble when it crashed ten miles south of Auxerre after 11:00 am (1000 GMT) in a field near the village of Mouffy. Some reports say “There was heavy fog” at the time of the crash and a witness heard “a strange whistling noise”. The debris field is spread in a radius of 1000 feet.
The aircraft was registered in the United States. The BEA, France’s Accident Investigation Bureau, sent four investigators.
