    Avianca Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cuba

    Avianca flight AV-9 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Havana, Cuba, on January 9th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Bogota, Colombia, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and fifty passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.

    U.S. Air Force Plane Makes Emergency landing at Monterey Regional Airport

    A U.S. Air Force KC10 tanker plane made an emergency landing at Monterey Regional Airport, California, on December 8.

    Authorities said the plane that took off from Travis Air Force Base, near Fairfield, requested an emergency landing due to smoke in cabin.

    The plane landed safely. There were five crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    AA Flight Diverts to Indianapolis Due to Unruly Passenger

    american airlinesAmerican Airlines Flight 1284 had to make an emergency landing at Indianapolis International Airport, Indiana, on September 14.

    Authorities said the plane, en-route from Miami to Chicago, was diverted due to an unruly passenger. It is believed that 25-year-old Daniela Velez-Reyes, of Chicago, hit a passenger and a flight attendant.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    Daniela was arrested while the plane was cleared to take off again.

    Air New Zealand Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tauranga

    Air New Zealand flight NZ-8262 made an emergency landing in Tauranga, New Zealand, on November 22nd.

    The plane was flying from Wellington, New Zealand, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines due to indication of a possible propeller issue.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Flight Returns to Atlanta due to Flight Control Issues

    Delta Airlines flight DL-1752 had to return for an emergency landing in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 13th.

    The Boeing 717-200 plane took off for Savannah, Georgia, but had to turn back due to flight control issues.

    The plane landed back safely. All 116 people aboard remained unharmed.

    The plane had experienced a similar issue on March 12th.

    American Airlines Flight Returns to Charlotte due to Smoke in Cabin

    American EagleAmerican Airlines flight AA-428 had to return and make an emergency landing in Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 5th.

    The plane took off for Denver, Colorado, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported smoke in the cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 138 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
