Military Charter Plane Makes Emergency Landing in New Hampshire

A military charter plane made an emergency landing at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease, New Hampshire, on October 28th.

The Boeing 767 plane took off for Columbus, Ohio, but had to turn back due to indication of a flaps problem.

The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Bulgarian Air Charter Plane Returns to Bulgaria after Engine Shut Down

Bulgarian Air Charter flight IT-1113 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Varna Airport, Aksakovo, Varna, Bulgaria, on July 11th.

The McDonnell Douglas MD-82, after taking off for Germany, had just climbed out of Varna when the crew needed to shut down its right side engine, prompting the plane to return.

The plane landed safely. All people onboard remained unharmed.

The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

Charter Plane Crash Lands in Karachi

A charter plane had to return and crash land at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, Pakistan, on March 18.

The plane crash landed minutes after taking off from the airport.

There were 21 people onboard, out of whom two were injured.

The cause of crash landing it yet to be confirmed.

Small Planet Airlines Airbus Veers Off Runway at Birmingham Airport

A Small Planet Airlines Airbus A320 veered off the runway at Birmingham Airport in England, on February 21.

According to an airport spokesperson, “Birmingham Airport can confirm that an A320 aircraft belonging to charter company, Small Planet, has maneuvered off the taxiway into grass after landing from Paderborn at 1320 today.”

None of the 180 people aboard reported any injuries.

The incident is being investigated.

Plane Carrying TU Men’s Basketball Team Returns to Tulsa due to Engine Failure

Aerodynamics Flight 974 had to return and make an emergency landing at Tulsa International Airport, Oklahoma, on February 2nd.

The charter plane, carrying University of Tulsa’s men’s basketball team, had to turn back after one of the engines stopped working. The team was heading to Philadelphia for a Thursday game at Temple University.

The plane landed safely. All 37 people aboard remained unhurt.

Eastern Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Aberdeen

Eastern AirwaysEastern Airways flight EZE514 made an emergency landing at Aberdeen International Airport in Scotland, on January 20.

According to an airline spokesperson, “The captain operating charter flight EZE514 from Scatsta to Aberdeen received a cockpit warning indication en-route to Aberdeen relating to one of the aircraft’s two engines…The airport fire service was put on standby but was stood down shortly after the aircraft landed in Aberdeen.”

All 28 passengers and 3 crew members remained safe.

The incident is being investigated.

Passengers Jump out as Loganair Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Netherlands

LoganairA Loganair charter flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Rotterdam The Hague Airport in the Netherlands on September 30.

The Saab 340 aircraft, carrying 17 passengers, departed for Aberdeen, Scotland, but had to turn back shortly afterwards due to a hydraulic leak. Passengers reported seeing red fluid leaking out from the aircraft’s wing.

According to an airline spokesperson, “The aircraft landed safely at the airport around 4.35pm local time where it was brought to a halt, but subsequently rolled just off the runway due to an issue with the hydraulics.” The passengers had to jump out of the emergency exits.

The airline arranged a replacement service for the passengers.

Elderly Passenger Forced Emergency Landing in Sydney

Australia by AirA small four-seater Beechcraft Duchess plane had to make an emergency landing in a paddock in Sydney, Australia, on August 25, due to odd behaviour of an 82-year-old man on board.

The plane was chartered by the old man for a business trip from Sydney suburb of Bankstown to Cowra. According to the Acting Inspector Gareth Smith, the man started acting erratically mid-air. “The pilot said that he started grabbing the controls, turning off fuel lines, and turning buttons randomly on and off,” he said.

The 23-year-old pilot had to fight and restrain the elderly passenger to control the plane for emergency landing. The old man sustained head and facial injuries in the process and was transported to hospital.

The charter company Australia by Air later said in a statement, “The pilot displayed excellent airmanship and skill during the landing, and we thank him for his professionalism.”

Police are investigating the incident.

Cockpit Fire forces Landing in Kirksville


What: Private charter jet registered to JJSA aviation out of San Jose, California; and the plane owned by the Honeywell Corporation.
Where: Kirksville Regional Airport
When: Friday. 1:15 p.m.
Who: 20-25 passenger jet was only carrying one passenger. No injuries.
Why: electrical fire in the cockpit. The electrical malfunction appeared to stem from a heated window in the cockpit, similar to a defrosting window on a car. The failure caused the plane’s windshield to smoke and burn.
