Bomb Threat Diverts Korean Air to Airbase with F-15 Escort

What: Korean Airlines Boeing 777 en route from Vancouver to Seoul
Where: Comox air base
When: April 10, 2012 5:30 p.m
Who: 149 passengers, 12 crew members
Why: After a bomb threat was made in a telephone call to the Korean Airlines Los Angeles office, the flight was diverted to Canada’s Comox air base, which is 70 miles outside Vancouver.

The flight was escorted by U.S. Air Force F-15 fighter jets. Three hours after the flight took off, it landed in Comex safely.

Officers checked passengers and luggage, Royal Canadian Mounted Police were investigating. Police, fire trucks and B.C. Ambulance paramedics were also on the scene.

    Medical Emergency Prompts PIA Flight to Make a Stop in Moscow

    piaPakistan International Airlines flight PK 785 made an emergency landing at Moscow airport, Russia, on March 15.

    The flight, en-route from Islamabad, Pakistan, to London Heathrow Airport, England, had to make an emergency stop, after a passenger suffered heart attack midair.

    The plane landed safely. The airline arranged an ambulance for the passenger, identified as Pervez Iqbal.

    The flight resumed shortly afterwards.

    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Atlanta

    Delta Airlines flight DL-369 had to return and make an emergency landing in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 7th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Managua, Nicaragua, but had to turn back after the crew received a nose wheel steering indication.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Cloud Nine Emergency Landing, Palm Beach

    What: Cloud 9 Helicopters Flight Training School Robinson 22
    Where: Palm Beach Gardens, North Palm Beach County
    When: June 19 2010
    Who: Pilot and trainee
    Why: On a training flight, equipment caught on fire and the helicopter had to make an emergency landing on Aviation Boulevard. The helicopter flipped but both the pilot and trainee “walked away.”

    Turbulence over Hawaii

    What: Air Canada Boeing 777-200 LR en route from Australia to Vancouver
    Where: emergency landing in Honolulu
    When: Friday 7:10 a.m.
    Who: 256 passengers and 17 crew members
    Why: When the flight encountered turbulence SW of Honolulu, twenty-two people suffered minor injuries following severe air turbulence. Two passengers were treated at the hospital and released; two crew members were hospitalized; the rest were treated on site. The flight left later, scheduled to arrive in Vancouver at 2:44 p.m.

    The turbulence was related to a thunderstorm.

    What: US Airways Boeing 757-200 en route from Phoenix,AZ to Kahului,HI
    Where: en route
    When: Sep 17 2010
    Who: 175 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: 1200 miles from Hawaii, smoke was observed in the cockpit. The crew diverted to San Francisco where they landed safely.

    A replacement jet was provided.
