Remember Air France Flight 4590— Charles de Gaulle International Airport near Paris to JFK—the July 2000 crash of an Air France Concorde supersonic transport (SST) in Paris? A hundred passengers and 9 crew died.
A piece of debris ruptured a tire, debris going 310 mph struck the wing led to a tank rupture. Engines one and two lost power on ignition. To make a long story short, the terrible conundrum ensued that the plane was going too fast to stop, unable to ascend, and on fire even before it took off. The plane crashed into the Les Relais Bleus Hotel killing everyone aboard and five in the hotel.
In France, the French court may be on the road to overturning the verdict against Continental Airlines. Opening arguments were heard in an appeals court in Versailles to consider the U.S. carrier’s request to purge the involuntary manslaughter verdict of 2010. Some of the “not guilty” findings may also be overturned.

Murray, 80 of Tarmac en route to Fernandina Beach, just outside Jacksonville Why: The pilot’s plans to fly to Ferdandina Beach to sell the plane were disrupted when he reported problems as soon as he took off. Murray reported to air traffic control that he was going to turn around and was cleared to do so, but then neighbors in this Oakland Park neighborhood heard the plane “spitting and sputtering.” The plane crashed in the middle of a house which was a total loss. The pilot did not survive.

Everyone aboard survived but everyone was injured. Five of the tourists were seriously injured.
On landing at Jomsom airport at 8:30 a.m., the brakes failed, and the plane skidded to the banks of the Kali Gandaki river. The wheel of the plane slipped off the runway and turned right. The front of the plane was wrecked and in the water. The back appears intact.
Eight passengers were Japanese, and on pilgrimage to Muktinath, a sacred Buddhist site at the foot of the Thorong La Himalayan mountain pass.
The rest of those aboard were Nepali.
An investigation is underway. The accident is currently being attributed to brake failure. Jomsom airport is known as one of the most dangerous on earth.
What: Mercy Flight enroute Buffalo to ECMC from Orleans County Where: A mile from Buffalo Niagara When: Dec 2 2009 Who: Pilot Shawn Hayes, 2 flight crew nurses and a patient Why: After Pilot Shawn Hayes reported “a drop” in one of his engine, he headed for the airport. ATC halted takeoffs for 5 minutes allowing Hayes to land anywhere but he didn’t make it to the airport. With one engine running, the pilot made a safe emergency landing.
Flight nurses transported patient by ambulance.
Hayes is a 23 year former military pilot.
