What: Montenegro Airlines Fokker 100 en route from Podgorica Montenegro to Rome

Who: 33 people on board (28 passengers 5 crew)
Why: The plane took off for Rome at 8:55 a.m but when a wheel on the left side of the main undercarriage fell off, the crew dumped fuel in the Adriatic sea (or Skadarsko Lake), and returned to Podgorica thirty minutes later for a safe landing.

Why: While en route, the system indicated an overheat. The crew returned to Phoenix where they made a safe landing. A replacement jet was provided for passengers.
Not that it applies, but the Thursday high for Phoenix was 102 o.
Etihad Airways Plane Diverts to Sri Lanka due to Medical Emergency
An Etihad Airways flight made an emergency landing at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka, on February 8th.
The plane flying from Sydney, Australia, to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was diverted after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.
The plane landed safely. The patient was taken to a hospital.
Ryanair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Hamburg
Ryanair flight FR-9056 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Hamburg, Germany, on September 1st.
The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Alicante, Spain, to Bremen, Germany, was diverted due to a flaps problem.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

When: Jul 7th 2009
Why: The Airbus rejected take-off from Heathrow because of an issue with the air speed indicator.

What: Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Addis Ababa to Rome
Where: Rome
When: Apr 5 2010
Why: On approach to Rome, the Ethiopian Airlines jet experienced hydraulic failure. The flight made a safe landing, but had to be towed to the apron. No injuries were reported.
