    Boston-Bound JetBlue Flight Diverts to Charleston

    A JetBlue flight made an emergency landing in Charleston, South Carolina, on February 8th.

    The plane heading from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Boston, Massachusetts, was diverted after an odor was noticed on-board.

    What: US Airways Boeing 737 en route from Ft Lauderdale
    Where: Ft Lauderdale
    When: Dec 9 2010
    Why: Shortly after takeoff, the US Airways Boeing had a bird strike, and a fireball came out of one of the engines, and it was “blown out.” The plane returned safely to Ft. Lauderdale and landed. There were no injuries except for the bird.

    Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Memphis after Bird Strike

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-2570 made an emergency landing in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 5th.

    The plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a bird strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 144 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    SriLankan Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing After Lithium Battery Catches Fire Mid-Air

    SriLankan Airlines flight UL-166 made an emergency landing in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on July 30th.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane flying from Kochi, India, declared an emergency after smoke was noticed emanating from a bag carrying a Lithium Ion battery and two mobile phones.

    The crew discharged fire extinguishers into the bag while the plane continued for a safe landing.

    All two hundred and two people aboard remained unharmed.

    Horizon Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Pasco

    Horizon AirHorizon Air flight 2133 had to make an emergency landing at Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco, Washington, at around 4:05 p.m. on November 13.

    According to Horizon Air spokesperson Halley Knigge, the pilots declared emergency due to a pressurization issue in cabin. The flight was heading from Boise to Seattle at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully and none of the 76 passengers and 4 crew members was injured.

    An alternate aircraft was arranged which took the passengers to Seattle.

    Bird-Hit Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Safe Landing in Fort Lauderdale

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-1495 made a safe landing following a bird strike in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on February 7th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane flying from Dallas Love Field, Texas, was on final approach to Fort Lauderdale when one of the engines ingested a bird.

    The plane continued for safe landing.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
